Who is the ‘Borz’ fighting next? The question perplexes fans and MMA gurus alike. Days after Dana White shut down his demands for a fight at 170 pounds, Khamzat Chimaev finds himself uncertain about his next opponent. Speculations have been running wild, but the fans are still awaiting an official announcement about Chimaev’s next bout.

Ever since his dominant victory over Kevin Holland at UFC 279, Chimaev’s upcoming rival has remained a mystery. Dana White’s dismissal of any hopes for a return to the welterweight division has prompted Chimaev to bulk up, hinting at a potential move to the middleweight division at 185 pounds.

In a surprising twist, Dricus du Plessis, the African MMA icon, has provided Chimaev with a significant piece of guidance. Recognizing the ongoing talks and speculations but no concrete fight in sight, du Plessis gave an invaluable suggestion to Chimaev. And the idea doesn’t seem too shabby, especially considering the amount of time Chimaev has spent away from the octagon.

From speculations to suggestions: Dricus du Plessis’ advice to Khamzat Chimaev

In an interview with sports journalist Helen Yee, ‘Stillknocks’ gave his two cents on ‘Borz’s inability to get a new opponent for himself. The discussion about Chimaev is kicked off by the journalist, asking, “Khamzat Chimaev is looking to make a permanent move to 185, but there hasn’t been any opponent announced. Who do you think he should fight?”

During the interview, Yee asked Dricus about his thoughts on Chimaev’s move to 185 pounds and the lack of a confirmed opponent. In response, ‘Stillknocks’ stated, “I think you [Chimaev] should fight anybody – maybe anybody ranked will be great because he hasn’t done that.”

The African fighter further stated, “He’s been talking about fighting at 185 for such a long time – he’s been talking about fighting for a very long time, but I haven’t seen anything. So I’m not really giving any thought to that…”

With Dricus du Plessis highlighting the importance of Chimaev facing a ranked opponent and expressing skepticism towards Chimaev’s extended discussions without action, the advice holds weight. It’s time for Chimaev to seize the opportunity and take on a formidable opponent to showcase his skills and solidify his presence in the middleweight division. UFC stars like Brendan Allen and Marvin Vettori have already been thrown into the mix as some of the potential contenders for the Swedish MMA artist’s middleweight debut.
