Daniel Rodriguez is set to face off against Kelvin Gastelum in a crucial welterweight clash for both men at UFC Saudi Arabia on June 22. With 2 losses in his last Octagon appearances, Rodriguez has faced a difficult period in his MMA career as he was on a 4-fight win streak before losing via submission to Neil Magny at UFC Vegas 64 in 2022. He then took on rising welterweight star, Ian Garry at UFC on ABC 4 in 2023, where he suffered another tough loss as he lost the bout via TKO in the first round.

‘D-Rod’ then faced another set-back as he was suspended by USADA after testing positive for the banned substance, ostarine, ahead of his scheduled fight against Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night 227 in 2023. His 6-month suspension ended in January 2024, and now as he gears up to take on Kelvin Gastelum, the fans have been curious to know more about Rodriguez’s numerous tattoos that cover a large portion of his body!

The post is also framed by his last name running along the top of his back in a unique script. Other tattoos sported by Rodriguez include a tattoo of Jesus Christ on the cross placed on his throat with a pair of folded hands on the right side of his neck, further emphasizing his spiritual convictions. These tattoos not only make a visual statement but also offer a glimpse into the complex inner world of the fighter, blending artistry with profound personal significance.

What is tattooed on Rodriguez’s torso?

Daniel Rodriguez’s torso features his birth year, 1986 as the centerpiece and is framed by a phrase on the top that reads, “Hate it or Love it”, with a crown above it. ‘D-Rod’ sports a unique tattoo on his face that has confused the fans in the past! According to a post on X by Aaron Bronsteter, a fan had brought up Rodriguez’s media day interview from UFC 279 where they were intrigued by his face tattoo which appears remarkably similar to the Atlanta Braves baseball team’s logo. As such, the fan wanted to know, “In many other interviews I’ve seen of him, he’s worn an LA Dodgers hat. Did he lose a bet or something?”

Therefore, Bronsteter took it upon himself and asked Rodriguez to clarify the issue when they met at the event. According to Bronsteter, “The area he grew up in is Atlantic Blvd. in L.A., which they refer to as The ATL, so the tattoo is a tribute to the area where he grew up and isn’t baseball-related (aside from the logo itself). ‘D-Rod’ also has the word ‘loyalty’ tattooed on his jaw, and by representing where he grew up with his face tattoo, Rodriguez’s choice to tattoo that word on his face highlights his beliefs aptly.

In conclusion, Daniel Rodriguez’s tattoos are a way for the fighter to provide a window into his personal life and struggle for the fans and people watching. As he gears up to take on Kelvin Gastelum on June 22, all eyes will be on ‘D-Rod’ as he attempts to get back into the win column against a formidable opponent!
