At the main event of the highly anticipated UFC 295, Alex Pereira claimed UFC light-heavyweight gold by finishing Jiri Prochazka in the second round. After the win, many fans speculated that former champion Jamahal Hill would be Pereira’s first title defense. However, ‘Poatan’ had something else on his mind.

Alex Pereira, in his post-fight interview, called out his long-time rival in Israel Adesanya. In their last outing, the ‘Last Stylebender’ finished ‘Poatan’ near the end of the second round at UFC 287. To no one’s surprise, Pereira wants revenge. People in the MMA world had varying opinions on the callout made by Pereira. Former UFC double champ and UFC commentator Daniel Cormier was one person who had a very different take on the callout.

In a recent episode of DC & RC, Daniel Cormier gave his take on the recent callout made by Alex Pereira. DC believes that Pereira gives his rivalry with Adesanya more importance than any of his accomplishments. However, Cormier also stated, “Izzy’s down right now, Izzy just lost the belt, he said he’s walking away… Alex is trying to make him back relevant in the title picture because he just wants to fight him”. Cormier claims that by calling out Adesanya for a rematch, Pereira is giving Adesanya “power“.

The UFC Hall of Fame member went on to talk about how Adesanya should react to the situation. DC stated, “Izzy should say ‘no.’ I know that it’s that bad for you. So you going to have to live with that one and eat that for the rest of your life”. The former double-champ claimed that Adesanya would most likely stay happy with the last win over Pereira despite losing the other three, stating, “Izzy’s petty. He’s gonna be okay sitting there and going ‘nope, you might’ve won three but I got the last one, live with it.'”

“DC is the biggest hater ever”

Fans certainly didn’t agree with DC on thinking that Adesanya winning the last fight meant that he won the rivalry and could ride off into the sunset, thinking he got the better of Pereira. Fans believe that despite Adesanya’s last win against Pereira, Pereira still has the upper hand in the trilogy as he is up 3-1 against Adesanya.
