Rising welterweight star Ian Garry has been calling for action to be taken on his recent opponent Michael ‘Venom’ Page since the pre-fight press conference at UFC 303. However, when Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier made his assessments about the situation, he concluded that there was nothing wrong with Page’s tactics.
Recently, a 2-0 Brazilian fighter named Mathus Terra, who trains at Chute Boxe, was revealed to have come in contact with an individual from Michael ‘Venom’ Page’s gym. He also revealed that a $10,000 offer was on the table for him if he could lend some information about Ian Garry’s training, but he decided against it. Having heard all the talk about the accusations, Daniel Cormier claims there is something important here that ‘The Future’ should realize about his team at Chute Boxe Academy.
First of all, Cormier doesn’t even think that Ian Garry’s accusations on ‘MVP’ should be taken way out of proportion. Why? Because seeking information about an opponent isn’t something that hasn’t happened before. Hence, there’s no question about honor in this regard. On his recent YouTube video, ‘DC’ wondered, “He tried to cheat. There’s honor in this sh*t now?”

“You think there’s honor? You think that if I’m actually with someone when I was fighting Jones or Stipe, it’s one of their teammates, they start to get a little loose and comfortable, I won’t say, Hey, man. What does this dude look like?’ It’s not illegal. It’s not illegal,” Cormier continued. He additionally shared an important piece of advice for Ian Garry, claiming that the 26-year-old needs to take away an important lesson from this incident.

Daniel Cormier has no doubt that Ian Garry is in the right place, the place where he needs to be – with a loyal team. Things could have gone horribly wrong for the Irish fighter at UFC 303 if not for Matheus Terra. The 2-0 Brazilian could have done a great deal with the $10,000 he was offered, but he turned it down. It would be foolish to assume that a superstar like Charles Oliveira, who trains there, would give up any information for that amount of money. Hence, Michael ‘Venom’ Page knew what he was doing.

“The story in this though is what Chute Boxe is and that is where Ian Garry should be happy that his loyalty lies within that team because while a teammate of his was offered money, and I can’t imagine that guy has $10,000 because [Michael ‘Venom’] Page is not going up to Charles Oliveira and offer him 10 grand for information,” Daniel Cormier further stated.

In addition to that, the former double champion believes an appropriate monetary compensation is in order for Matheus Terra’s loyal act. “If that broke kid or that kid who has very little or that kid who may be poor says no, my relationship with my teammate means more. That is where you lie your head on and honestly, if I’m Ian Garry I’m giving this kid a little money,” Cormier added.
Ian Garry might have been triggered by Michael ‘Venom’ Page’s tactics, but he did not let that take his mind away from their fight, which he won. Despite his victory, some people, including Dana White, claimed if the judges had deemed it a draw, it would have been an acceptable outcome. Now, Garry needs to earn a convincing victory in his next fight since that could help shut his critics down, but until then, we’ll have to wait and see if he decides to respond to Daniel Cormier.
