UFC Vegas 103 experienced a major change in the commentary booth, as Daniel Cormier hung Dana White out to dry. As per the latest reports, DC will no longer commentate at UFC Fight Night 253. Well, the UFC often rotates its commentary team based on factors like the location, schedule, fights, and how big the event is. A Fight Night at Vegas could possibly do without an additional color commentator. So who would present the fights at UFC Vegas 103?
It’ll be none other than Dominick Cruz and Jon Anik. Yes, it’s indeed the first two-man commentary booth ever since August 2022. Back then, Brendan Fitzgerald and Michael Bisping handled the commentary for UFC on ESPN 40. And we can say that it was a successful event. Coming to UFC Fight Night 253, the promise of entertaining the fighting community still exists. What the world would miss is DC’s voice.
But this wasn’t the first commentary stint that the former heavyweight champion pulled out of. Back on 17 February 2024, when Ilia Topuria clashed against Alexander Volkanovski for the first time, Cormier walked out of the commentary desk. In his stead, ‘The Count’ swooped in to save the event and join Joe Rogan with the color commentary. Well, the reason why DC won’t be commentating at UFC Vegas 103 is still unknown.

Nevertheless, Cruz probably wouldn’t mind the change. The former UFC bantamweight champion didn’t really vibe with Daniel Cormier’s commentary. But when it comes to Anik, he was a fan. Let’s see what made Cruz dislike DC’s commentary.
Dominick Cruz is not a fan of Daniel Cormier behind the microphone
Back in 2021, prior to his slated bout against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 269, the former bantamweight champion expressed his awe with Anik’s commentary. He revealed that the play-by-play commentator did enough homework on the fights while preparing for all the action on the microphone. No wonder Anik is the one who leads the commentary desk. But the same couldn’t be said for DC.

‘The Dominator’ said, “When it comes to ‘DC,’ I usually mute it. I love DC, he’s my friend, but to me, from my experience, he doesn’t do the homework. He wants to get in and out, get the job done, make his money, and I think he cares about us but it’s just different. He doesn’t do the preparation from my experience.” He didn’t rule out the possibility of change, though. But he didn’t hold back on advising Cormier to watch what Cruz and the others were doing.
Nevertheless, we can expect UFC Fight Night 253 to be as entertaining as it could be. After all, it would be Cruz’s first-ever commentary job after his retirement. But would it be as interesting as a standard three-man team? I guess, we’ll find out this Saturday night. What are your thoughts on the two-man commentary table for UFC Vegas 103? Who is your favorite UFC color commentator apart from Joe Rogan? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
