It’s that time of the year when people start making and announcing their New Year’s resolutions. Of course, not everyone keeps their resolutions in check and often they give up in the first couple of months. But those who stick to their plans emerge as new versions of themselves. Maybe that’s what Sean O’Malley had in his mind when he announced his resolution. After all, the embarrassment he had to face at UFC 306 was enough to make him hungry for a win again.
Come 2025, ‘Suga’ has planned to wipe off all social media on his phone. Taking to Instagram, the former bantamweight champion quoted, “2025, I am deleting all my social medias off my phone until my next fight. My team will be running my socials. We will still make content but I just need a detox from my phone. Going to focus on reaching my full potential as an athlete and a father.”
It does seem like his loss against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306 forced him to work harder. Dvalishvili indeed humiliated him inside the Sphere. No wonder he wanted to have a rematch and try to get his championship title back. So when can we expect O’Malley to reinstall social media into his phone? Well, back when a fight fan asked O’Malley about his return, he declared that it would be against the Georgian champion, sometime around the second quarter of 2025.

Well, some of the fans didn’t back away from attacking the former bantamweight champ. One fan commented, “well needed tbf, instagram softens minds.” Another fan added, “At least he’s gonna put the effort to get the belt back.”
But when it comes to discipline, Khabib Nurmagomedov and his Dagestani team always take strides in the discussions. One fan suggested that O’Malley get to the Russian mountains and train with the former undefeated lightweight champion. After all, that’s the best place to visit if one wants to become a strong grappler. A comment read, “Take a trip to dagesstan my boy.” One of the fans pointed out that the 30-year-old should share his training experience in Russia with the fighting world. The comment read, “This won’t help [laughing emoji] bro better off going yo Russia and vlogging his wrestling training.” Another fan reflected on ‘Suga’s decision and wrote, “Dagestan arc incoming.”
