UFC president Dana White was not at all impressed with PFL’s deal with Francis Ngannou. The UFC supremo bashed the terms of the new deal during a recent press conference. White said that the deal made no sense to him. He also took shots at Ngannou, calling him an inactive fighter.

Now, PFL founder Donn Davis has fired back at Dana White with a cheeky remark. Furthermore, the drama between the two promotion heads invited some interesting reactions from the fans.

Davis took a shot at White by turning one of White’s own comments against him. He also made a reference to the downfall of Blockbuster after the arrival of Netflix to prove his point.

In a recent tweet, Davis wrote, “Netflix is not even on our radar screen in terms of competition.”  Blockbuster CEO 2008 “What PFL is doing makes no sense to me.” UFC President 2023.”

Davis is explicitly kicking off the race to get ahead of the UFC in the near future. The Ngannou deal could be their first move in that direction.

This tweet made the headlines rather quickly and had the fans debating over the present scenario.

Fans react to Donn Davis and Dana White beefing publicly

PFL’s new contract with Francis Ngannou ensures a hefty paycheck for him and his opponent. It also grants him the freedom to pursue boxing bouts before he debuts in PFL in 2024. They have also given him the position of chairman of PFL Africa. White criticized some of these terms rather heavily, which in turn incited the reaction from Davis.

A post about Donn Davis’ dig at Dana White was posted on Reddit. Fans in the comments section had quite a few reactions to it.

  • How does PFL actually compete with UFC any time soon?
  • I’ve seen too many of these “UFC Killer” startup orgs tank over the years to disagree with Dana.
  • Sorry UFC feels head and shoulders above in every way
  • Doesn’t really apply in today’s context. No matter how much PFL grows, UFC’s gonna be 10 times ahead.
  • Uncle Dana is right though. PFL is burning through investors money, with the $15-20 mln annual revenue they they are overpaying Ngannou and cannot afford buying Bellator
  • Hate to say it but I think Dana will turn out to be right. Don’t let your Dana/ufc hate blind you from the fact that Pfl’s spending all that money and not getting much in return.
  • I just can’t see how PFL can do it, I guess the one way to get into the mix is to snag as much top talent as you can before UFC can.

PFL’s deal with Ngannou has been a topic of several heated debates since its announcement. As is evident from the fans’ reactions, a large section of fans do not think it will bring any substantial change or damage to the UFC. There are also those that strongly oppose this view and laud ‘The Predator’ for landing this deal.

One thing that is commendable is how Ngannou stayed true to his word despite news of rejections from other promotions. However, fans will have to wait and see if ‘The Predator’s valiant attempts to bring change to the game will bear any fruits.
