Could the NBA replicate UFC's $22M success at The Sphere? What do you think?

The UFC 306 has finally come to an end, and the promotion has once again lived up to the expectations of the fans. Before the fight, UFC CEO Dana White faced a lot of criticism after he announced the fight card. The ticket sales were also not up to the mark, and many felt that the historic event at the Las Vegas Sphere might just become a flop show. However, the fans enjoyed the event on Mexican Independence Day, and White now wants to see more events happening here. During the post-fight press conference, he shared his thoughts on the whole. Let us take a look at what he had to say.

The head honcho made it clear that he spent a lot of money ($22 M) in making the event a success. But he now wants other organizations to also work hard and try and host an event. White feels the venue shouldn’t just be limited to hosting concerts but should also be used to host multiple sports. During the post-fight press conference, he said, “It would have to be. Turki loves this and he buy the entire sphere. I should not say boxing with him floating around. I would say NBA and these companies you know that’s tons of money. I wouldn’t say no. We showed everybody today that’s it possible. You can do more than concerts and pull them off.”

The event at the Sphere was a visual treat for the fans watching live and also for the fans watching it at home. The biggest attraction of the night was not only the fight card but a unique theme that was used by the UFC. They created a movie called ‘A Love Letter to Mexico’ that talked about the culture, the history, and also the fighting spirit of the people of Mexico. The movie also featured all the legends of Mexico who once showcased their skills in the fighting world. Before every fight, a particular chapter of the movie was played, and then the fight followed.

This was carried out for the entire card and depicted both the past and the future of the people of Mexico. During the post-fight press conference of the DWCS Season 8, Week 5, Dana White also revealed a unique plan he had in store for the fans. He said, “There are also going to be Easter eggs in each one of these films. “What I want to do is if somebody can find all the eggs, I’ll give you $25,000.”  With so much effort being put into the event, will we see the UFC return to the same venue again? Let us take a look at what Dana White had to say about it.

Dana White makes it clear that he won’t be returning the Las Vegas Sphere again

Despite the UFC 306 being a blockbuster event and living up to the hype surrounding it, the bad news for the fans is that Dana White isn’t changing his stance on this being a one-and-done event. During the post-fight press conference, he credited his team for working incredibly hard to pull off an event like this. UFC color commentator Joe Rogan was also super impressed by the venue and credited the UFC head honcho for his work.

The 55-year-old is in no mood to return to the same venue. One of the biggest reasons is that he is under contract with MGM. During the post-fight press conference, he said, “No [not coming back for another UFC event at the Sphere]. I’m under contract with MGM,”. Looking at White’s expression, one can see that he was super proud of how the event had folded. While many thought this would be a flop show. White once again proved to the world why he is the best in the business.
