Dana White's $20M gamble—genius move or reckless risk? What do you think?

UFC CEO Dana White is currently enjoying the success of his recently concluded UFC 306 event. However, in recent developments, the 55-year-old has been promoting the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois fight on social media. Also, the UFC head honcho traveled to Dublin to witness Callum Walsh’s boxing fight against Runowski. Dana White has never been an advocate of boxing, but suddenly, there is a shift in his attitude.

But why exactly is White promoting boxing events? It seems there is something brewing between him and Turki Alalshikh as pointed out by UFC legend Michael Bisping. Let us take a look at what he had to say about White’s newfound love for boxing.

UFC CEO Dana White has been showing his interest in getting into the boxing game for quite some time now. Apart from the UFC dabbling in the sport with initiatives like Zuffa Boxing and the support of boxers like Callum Walsh on UFC Fight Pass, there hasn’t been much of a development. However, things might be shifting there and for good. White stated that there will be news shortly that will include him and the UFC in the boxing industry. He made the announcement during a pre-fight Q&A on Thursday for Friday’s Walsh vs. Przemyslaw Runowski, which caught the attention of the fans.

But is this the only reason White got into boxing? Former UFC champion Michael Bisping doesn’t quite agree, and he recently took the time to discuss the entire event. He said on his YouTube channel, “So the UFC and Turki Alalshikh they’re are doing business together. Now look at this, Dana was promoting the Joshua vs Dubois fight on Instagram. Why is that? Well, Turki Alalshikh is promoting that. It is all Riyadh season.” Turki Alalshikh is the man behind some of the biggest fights that have happened over the past couple of years in Saudi Arabia. Currently, the next biggest fight in Riyadh Season is the Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois fight.

‘The Count’ feels that Alalshikh is highly impressed with Dana White’s Noche event in the Sphere and wants to use his expertise. White and his team invested more than $20 million to make the event a blockbuster. Bisping further added, “Dana and Turki Alalshikh are linking up. They’re are changing the face of boxing.” This is not the first time White has shown his interest in trying his hands at boxing. However, on most occasions, he gets cut by the big players in the business. But it seems he is determined to make the sport even more interesting.
