The majority of the world is standing up against the newest Disney movie, Snow White. Featuring Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and Rachel Zegler as the titular Snow White, the movie was was a disaster waiting to happen. Why do we say that? Well, right from the time that it was announced, through its production and now release, this movie has been plagued with a lot of issues ranging from the writer’s strike, issues in production, and Rachel Zegler’s “problematic behavior.” The movie is now out, and boy is it receiving a ton of backlash. The character in focus is Zegler and her “problematic behavior.” To add insult to injury, Dana White’s son came forward to take shots at the young Hollywood actress.

In an Instagram reel about Zegler talking about her new movie, the actress pointed out that the original Snow White animation was released back in 1937, alluding to times being different now. In the original story, Prince Florian swooped in to save Snow White from the Evil Queen. But not this time, it seems. Zegler, at the D23 Expo, claimed, “There is a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird, weird.” She continued, “And we absolutely wrote a Snow White that… She’s not gonna be saved by the prince and she’s not gonna be dreaming about true love. She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be.”

But things began to fall out pretty soon. Zegler insinuated that the producers should remove the clips containing Andrew Burnap’s character. In a dig at her fellow actress, she called Gal Gadot “a professional pageant queen” which started a feud with her co-star. The final straw was when she posted pro-Palestine comments, which seemed to infuriate Gal Gadot who is Israeli. On top of that, Zegler demanded to be paid extra. During the NYC Actors rally, she said, “I say, if I’m gonna stand there 18 hours in a dress of an iconic Disney princess, I deserve to be paid for every hour that it streamed online.”

When Dana White III came across the reel on Instagram, he couldn’t control himself and decided to take a jibe at Zegler. He wrote, “Never getting hired for another movie role again Button.” Not only the UFC CEO’s son, but the son of the movie’s producer, Jonah Platt, also released his opinion.

In a now-deleted X post, Platt wrote, “This is called adult responsibility and accountability. And her actions clearly hurt the film’s box office. Free speech does not mean you’re allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions. Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful. Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.”

The repercussions were really severe. With over $270 million spent on the remake, visuals on the internet showed empty theatres with Snow White running on the big screens. But did you know? There was a time when Dana White was leaning into Walt Disney in excitement. Let’s see what it was about.

Dana White once got excited about getting a deal with Disney

Back in 2018, the UFC and the Walt Disney Company came together with a multi-year media rights agreement for exclusive UFC content on ESPN. How come? Well, Disney does own 80% of ESPN. Weighing in on the deal, White said, “I couldn’t be more excited to partner with the Walt Disney Company and ESPN on an agreement that will continue to grow our sport. UFC has always done deals with the right partners at the right time and this one is no exception. We will now have the ability to deliver fights to our young fan base wherever they are and whenever they want it. This deal is a home run for ESPN and UFC.”

The deal was a great success but all good things must come to an end. This deal between ESPN and UFC will also come to a close in 2025, which is why the UFC head honcho has been searching for a new broadcasting partner. Although he did hint that Disney might get back into the picture, Amazon, YouTube, and other platforms were also brought into consideration. But one thing is certain—White is set to compete with TV rights rivalling that of the NBA and NFL.
