Dana White is a tough man to please. The UFC CEO is not above talking trash about even the biggest stars in the promotion. Even the likes of Jon Jones and Conor McGregor are not spared when the head honcho is displeased or they do things he doesn’t want.

However, the UFC boss does have a soft spot for some fighters. MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz joined ESPN MMA’s Brett Okamoto for an interview where he discussed who he thinks is Dana White’s favorite fighter and why.

During the interview, Ali Abdelaziz was asked about his client Kamaru Usman by Okamoto. The manager was all praises for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ and felt he was in a class of his own, and was one of the nicest people outside the cage, while an absolute savage inside. He also pointed out that while he has lost three fights in a row, his first loss against Leon Edwards came after he dominated the fight for four rounds but got caught with a devastating head-kick in the last round, and made his opinion that Usman won their rematch known.

The manager also claimed that Kamaru Usman was Dana White’s favorite fighter, over even Khabib Nurmagomedov, because the former welterweight champion was willing to fight anyone at any weight class as he proved in his fight against Chimaev.

“Dana White’s favorite fighter is Kamaru Usman 100%. Khabib and Kamaru, they never choose their opponent, they don’t care who they fight and Kamaru especially. Khabib have to cut the weight, he needed time. Kamaru don’t care- middleweight, welterweight, light heavyweight he was willing to fight,” Abdelaziz stated.

Abdelaziz also called Usman the greatest welterweight of all time and felt he was among the top five greatest UFC fighters in history. The manager explained what sets the Nigerian apart from other fighters in his greatness.

Abdelaziz thinks Usman would have won against Chimaev in a five-round fight

Abdelaziz commended Usman for fighting Khamzat Chimaev on short notice at UFC 294. ‘Borz’ won a controversial majority decision at the end of their scheduled three-round match, but the manager felt the result would have been different if it had been a five-round affair.

“Kamaru is like a chameleon, he stand alone. One of the nicest dudes ever, one of the most savage ever… Fought Khamzat Chimaev, one of the baddest on the planet…if there’s two more round, what will  happen in this fight?” Abdelaziz told Okamoto.

Abdelaziz pointed out that Usman had been partying all over Europe when he got the call to fight Chimaev on short notice. Despite the partying and jet lag that he would be subject to, he took the fight, which showed the kind of person and fighter Usman is.

“[He was] coming off the couch, Kamaru is going all over Europe, hanging out, partying enjoying for 10 days and he come back home for 10 days and he went straight to Abu Dhabi (for UFC 294). That shows you who is Kamaru,” he added.
