Michael Chandler has already got a new fight lined up but there’s still no sign of a return date for Conor McGregor! After their UFC 303 bout got canceled due to McGregor’s toe injury, fans were hoping to see the fight get re-scheduled for later this year. But that ship has now sailed. In a recent interview with New York Post Sports, UFC CEO Dana White shared, “Conor McGregor will fight next year, early 2025.”

McGregor, who has been out of action since 2021, remains a wild card in the UFC’s plans. Fans have watched him train on social media, post about comebacks, and tease possible opponents. Yet, the official return date remains a mystery, wrapped in uncertainty. As such, recently at a Dublin Q&A session, Dana White caused another wave of speculation with a puzzling response to the question about the UFC and Conor McGregor returning to Ireland with an event.

Dana White knows how to keep fans guessing. The UFC boss was in attendance at the Callum Walsh vs. Przemslaw Runowski boxing match pre-fight media event in Dublin recently and was bombarded with questions about Conor McGregor’s long-awaited return to the octagon, but, in true White fashion, his response left more questions than answers.

Referring to the Irishman’s 2014 fight against Diego Brandao from UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin, Ireland, a fan questioned White about the 3,715 days since the UFC and McGregor have made a trip to the ‘Emerald Isle’ and when he plans to bring the Octagon back to the country.

A straightforward question, but White’s answer? Not so much. White reminisced about that iconic night as he stated, “You know, it’s funny we were talking about that before we left the hotel today. You know this arena right here, that fight was one of the greatest events I’ve ever been to. When he won, everybody threw their beer up in the air, they were going crazy, it was raining beer for like 3 minutes in the arena and uh, it was just so bada**.”

But despite the nostalgia, White’s response to a 2025 return was as cryptic as ever as he responded by sharing, “Maybe, maybe, possibly.” So, what does this mean for McGregor’s future? Could 2025 be the year of his grand return? For now, all we can do is wait for an update from the UFC supremo.

While Conor McGregor fans are left wondering about his return, the UFC boss also dropped a bombshell at the Q&A about him possibly entering the world of boxing as a promoter!

UFC boss hints at a pivot towards the squared circle

Dana White’s got his hands full with the UFC and his other ventures, but it seems he’s still got space for more. At the Walsh vs Runowski Q&A, the UFC boss was asked about his plans to possibly spread his wings into the world of boxing. His response?

Not one to mince words, White stated, “Let me tell you if you know anything about me and you go back and look at anything that I ever said, I never say anything that I don’t do. Ever. I’ve never said that, and we’ve been kicking the whole boxing thing around for a long time. You’ve never heard me commit and say I’m in. I’m in.”

While the MMA world knows him for his relentless promotion of UFC events, White has also been pouring energy into other ventures, like PowerSlap. This isn’t the first time there have been rumblings of the UFC moving towards the squared circle as Zuffa Boxing was once hailed as White’s grand entrance into the boxing ring, but it never took flight.

Will things be different this time around? And will we see an announcement about Conor McGregor’s return finalized anytime soon? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
