Is Sean O'Malley the next big thing in UFC, or just another fighter in McGregor's shadow?

Sean O’Malley was recently involved in a social media brawl with Conor McGregor after he accused him of taking Ostarine. While O’Malley might have moved on from the battle, he still doesn’t hesitate to speak on McGregor’s return. Both fighters are two of the biggest stars for the UFC and somehow seem to find a way to bump into each other. This time it’s because O’Malley seems not entirely impressed with what Dana White had to say.

O’Malley took to his YouTube channel to share his honest opinion on what he thinks about ‘Mystic Mac’s’ comeback plan. He said, “Dana came out and said McGregor Chandler Oliveira news coming soon. It’s like hard to believe, you know, at this point for Conor to come back. So we will see, but what about Oliveira? What do you think about him? Dan Hooker-Oliveira is pretty exciting.”

The Dubliner was all set to make a comeback at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler. However, an injury to his toe forced him to walk out of the clash, which angered many of the fans out there. UFC CEO Dana White clarified that he won’t give any details about his return until McGregor returns to full fitness. But it seems things are taking a new turn in the story when, on Instagram Live, he mentioned that there was some excellent news regarding McGregor’s return soon to be announced. But what does O’Malley think about it? Let us find out.

While Sean O’Malley might not believe in the plan, the Dubliner is indeed working hard to return to action this year. One of his close associates and photographer, Dave Fogarty, during an interview with ‘Bloody Elbow,’ made it clear that McGregor was pushing for his fight in December.

The UFC has yet to announce any date for the return of the former two-division champion. While there are still many who feel that the fight may not happen this year, Daniel Cormier doesn’t quite agree with it.

Daniel Cormier begs to differ on Conor McGregor not returning in 2024

Daniel Cormier seems pretty confident about the fight happening this year and said, “Vegas is where the fight card will take place in December. Conor McGregor needs to fight in Vegas. He will fight Michael Chandler seemingly”.

He then went out to point out how the statements of Dana White about McGregor not fighting this year has angered the Dubliner. As a result, he is working extra hard to reach full fitness and wants to prove everyone wrong. Cormier further added, “So, it seems as though when the boss went public instead and started to say, ‘Well, this guy is not fighting,’ it almost lit a fire in Conor McGregor. It seems like we’re getting closer, and closer.”

There is one voice disagreeing with Cormier, presenting a different narrative. Fellow UFC retiree Chael Sonnen agrees with Cormier that the UFC is planning McGregor’s return. But, ‘The Bad Guy’ has reason to believe it is for January 2025. He also said that it would not be in Vegas as many expect but in California.
