So, what happened? Well according to Dan Hardy himself, he did have a disagreement but it was rather a small one which was not that much of an issue, “The incident in Fight Island, it was a disagreement between myself and another employee of the UFC who, I just feel was, the person was being obstructive in helping me do my job. And I asked the person why, and I felt like I was told a falsehood, which I called them out on. And that’s my side of it. I wasn’t aggressive, I wasn’t insulting towards her, I wasn’t threatening in any way,” said Hardy in a statement after he was released from the promotion.
It must be noted that he even apologized for the situation, “I have apologized to the individual, for the embarrassment they must have felt, as a small handful of our colleagues from the British media were present.” He further explained that it all happened all of a sudden. The duo was taking a brief break from recording content for UFC 258, just a few hours after the conclusion of the Holloway-Kattar event, when the disagreement unfolded. The conversation could have certainly happened in a more suitable location and under better circumstances.

Dana White and Dan Hardy’s vicious back-and-forth

Since the Fight Island incident, Dana White and Dan Hardy have been at odds. The former welterweight title contender in one of his escapades called out the promotion for faking their care for the top fighters. Hardy emphasized that the head honcho never really cared for Calvin Kattar in relation to the vicious beating he received in his bout against Max Holloway. Many had argued that the fight should have stopped and the duo shouldn’t have gone the distance.
This statement by the former UFC employee got the attention of the UFC CEO who called out Hardy for his fake statements, “I can tell you we’ve never staged anything ever. We have a documentary that we filmed during COVID. That’s why I was mic’d. I’ve never been mic’d. I was mic’d because of that. Are you talking about when I was talking about ‘Let’s get him straight to the hospital?” said Dana White.
After the statement, White directed a verbal jab at Hardy, remarking that he doesn’t care what his former employee thinks of him, especially given the Englishman’s history of assaulting women, “I don’t give a f*** what anybody thinks, so you don’t have to worry about me staging anything, and I don’t give a f*** what Dan Hardy thinks. He’s a guy that was mistreating a woman who worked here, and that’s why he was fired. So obviously he’s bitter, and I’m assuming that’s why he would say something like that.”

This statement by the UFC CEO soon caught the attention of Dan Hardy, who called out the boss for making baseless claims, “Mistreating a woman, Dana White? How dare you accuse me of such a thing. Clear proof that you were told lies about what happened, and why they steered all of the ‘Dan Hardy’ questions away from you.”
Hardy later clarified that he doesn’t think White is fabricating stories about him. Instead, he believes White has ‘been told lies by the people around him’ regarding the incident on Fight Island. Despite the difference, Dan Hardy is one of the most respected panelists as well as an analyst in the world of MMA. Regardless, what’s your take on the hubbub?
