Dana White is still adamant on one point and that is Jon Jones, is the best P4P fighter in the UFC. He again argued with the press in a UFC 303 presser vehemently that Jones was the best P4P in the world and it did get heated at one point. White was fixated that just because Jones did not fight for two years did not make him any less of a star and he remained the best in the eyes of the head honcho. ‘Bones’ is currently inactive even though he has recovered from his shoulder injury and Islam Makhachev defended his title again in UFC 302. Despite the Dagestani winning the title, the UFC CEO hailed Jones to be the best. And UFC 303 was no different.

During the UFC 303 post-match press conference, Dana White again backed Jon Jones as he argued with a reporter saying, “He got injured, if you were coming into a fight and you fu** got hurt, that means you are not the Pound 4 Pound best fighter in the world anymore? How does that even make sense, doesn’t make sense.

Islam Makahchev has been phenomenal in the promotion with only one defeat to his name and that too came at the early stage of his UFC career. However, despite churning out a series of stunning performances, it seems that the champion is yet to gain the confidence of the UFC CEO. And the fans seemed to take notice of the same as they took to social media to take a jibe at Dana White for still rooting for Jon Jones.

When Makhachev won at UFC 302, the fans were ready to label him as the best P4P fighter and even the official rankings did so. However, White was of a different opinion as he said, “For anybody to call Islam Makhachev the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world with Jon Jones is still f***ing fighting is nuts. Shouldn’t be ranking in the pound for pound or doing any rankings ever.”

Fans were not happy with this verdict and even now the fans retaliated with sarcasm. One of the UFC buffs referred to a viral meme and said, “Dana giving Jon that hawk tuah,” while another follower spoke about ‘Poatan’ who won UFC 303, and wrote, “Alex Pereira is the P4P best fighter in the world.”

A handful of social media fans supported White’s claims of Jones being the best P4P as one of them wrote, “Jones has been winning for a decade longer than most casuals even became fans lol bro is. When the boss declared ‘Bones’ to be the star, Makhachev’s coach, Javier Mendez was not happy since he believed that his pupil deserved the title after his hard work. On the other hand, another fan claimed that ‘Bones’ deserved fights with real and better opponents and wrote, “Then, sign him up for real fights with real fighters on his level. You act like he’s your son. Lol.”

One fan agreed with White and wrote, “Jones is the greatest of all time!” while another fan took Makhachev’s side and said, “Imagine if Islam was headlining MSG in November, wonder what pink head would say.” Joe Rogan had also taken part in this discussion days back as on the ‘JRE Fight Companion’ he claimed that P4P was very subjective and deciding one champ was not easy.

Meanwhile, another UFC follower wrote, “Gotta love those passive-aggressive people. The debate for P4P fighters has divided the UFC world into two, but who do you think is the best between ‘Bones’ and Makhachev? Drop your pick in the comments below.
