Not once, but on multiple occasions, the UFC seemed to be desperate in trying to erase Francis Ngannou from its history. But why? Israel Adesanya took issue with this act from the world’s premiere promotion after the same thing happened on the UFC 305 Countdown video. But as it turns out, Dana White had no clue that something like that went down.
Dana White‘s been very vocal about his disdain towards the Cameroonian-French star. He’s banned Francis Ngannou from the UFC, claiming that he’d never fight under their organization ever again. However, the second attempt to erase the former heavyweight champion on the UFC 305 Countdown video seems to have taken Dana White by surprise because he had no knowledge that it happened.
“When you asked me about that, I didn’t know anything about it. But someone was editing that and made a conscious decision, thinking that was the right thing to do, that that’s what we would have wanted, what I would have wanted,” Dana White told Kevin Iole during the recent DWCS presser. The UFC CEO claims that he’s often a little rough with his production team. Given how vocal he’s been about his feelings for Francis Ngannou, White believes that maybe that’s why the team removed Francis Ngannou from the clip. Hence, he took the brunt of the blame.

“I didn’t know about it and that was nothing that ever came across my desk. I’m in charge of everything production-related, so at the end of the day, the fact that it happened falls on me 100 percent. It’s my responsibility and I accept it. Blame me for that,” Dana White added. But do you know this isn’t the first time that’s happened? It’s because the first instance that raised such speculations about Francis Ngannou was in 2023.

The UFC’s past attempt at erasing Francis Ngannou
Just last year, the UFC showcased its first attempt at erasing Francis Ngannou during UFC Vegas 78. As Tafon Nchukwi made his way to the Octagon, a graphic appeared claiming that he was the first Cameroonian in UFC history. This was far from the truth since Nchukwi was the third from his nation, with Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou being the first and Ngannou being the second. It seemingly made a lot of fans upset.

Ahead of his comeback at UFC 305, Israel Adesanya was visibly triggered by the action of the UFC’s production team. He vented out his frustrations, given that he shared a very close relationship with the former UFC champion. “You can’t erase Francis’ legacy in the UFC. It’s part of what we’ve done. I know he fights for the PFL now, but it’s history – trying not to talk about it is silly,” Adesanya told the media at UFC 305 pressers.
Francis Ngannou hasn’t spoken much about the UFC in recent times as he’s doing well in his new endeavor in boxing and has his PFL debut against Renan Ferreira coming soon. But what do you think? Is he bothered about these acts from the UFC? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
