Khabib Nurmagomedov left a profound mark on the sport over his 29-0 career. The mere fact that he is still being demanded to make a comeback almost 4 years after he last fought is a testament to the same. His retirement was because of a promise to his mother, following the death of his father. Nevertheless, Dana White, UFC, and several other organizations have wooed him to come back. However, he has stayed true to his word and no amount of money has been able to make him turn back on his words.

Moreover, in a recent turn of events, a close aid of the undefeated fighter, Daniel Cormier reveals that he was incentivized by a very lucrative offer. Will history repeat itself or will the former champion consider making a comeback for this offer?

The short answer is no! This may be expected. However, what might have startled Cormier was that ‘The Eagle’ was supposedly offered a whopping $40 Million. Although Nurmagomedov is one of the richest MMA fighters, $40 Million is nothing to scoff at. “Khabib Nurmagomedov turned down 40 million dollars. That dude said $40 million to come back,” said the former champion. Howeverhis claim is quite ambiguous. Does it mean $40 Million to fight once? Also, against whom? To which, his close aide added, “To fight in the UFC, I don’t know how many fights he was meaning. I don’t know what he meant. But he just said, ‘I turned away $40 million brother. I am done.’”

It is safe to say that the former lightweight champion is not motivated by money. Reflecting on the same, he added, “I don’t know what would prompt him to come back if he throwing this much money away.” However, do you wonder that if the mere thought of a comeback even crosses his mind?

Nurmagomedov’s thoughts on his comeback

Does he think about his comeback? Yes. Will he make a comeback? No. Why? Because he is a true man of his word and that too is a word given to his mother. In an interview, he revealed that he often contemplates a return but then the thought of his mother comes to his mind. He stated, “Because I don’t know… a lot of things come to my mind. First of all, because of my mother. I don’t think so.”

His father’s demise back in 2020 was a huge blow to the undefeated star. With the absence of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov from his fighting career, ‘The Eagle’ did not want to fly anymore. This was also a question raised by his mother, as revealed by the champion post announcing his retirement.
