In one of the more recent interviews, Dana White sat with GQ in their “Actually me” segment. He was answering an array of questions posed to him on the internet. Although most of the questions were related to his personal life and UFC, a fan asked Dana his opinion on Bruce Lee.
“Would Bruce Lee, at his peak, be able to contend with today’s top MMA fighter?”
In response to the questions, the UFC boss said, “It’s such an unfair question. I’m such a huge Bruce Lee fan. I mean Bruce Lee in his day…we wouldn’t be where we are today without Bruce Lee, so to try to compare him to today’s fighters is ridiculous.”
Bruce Lee as an MMA pioneer
Bruce Lee has been a very influential figure in the fighting community. Whether it’s boxing or MMA, fighters from everywhere have shown their respect towards him and tried to imply his philosophies to their lifestyle.
Bruce Lee was a Martial artist himself. He developed his own martial arts form, known as “Jeet Kune Do”. Lee was incredibly fast while performing his moves, but it was his fighting ideology that influenced a lot of people.

Lee promoted the mastery of a single skill through countless repetitions. He once very famously said, “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”
Despite being such a prominent figure in MMA, he never competed officially in it. Although there are stories, there’s no recorded evidence of it. That’s the reason why a lot of people question his ability and how he would do in a real fight.
