It looks like the big fight Dana White promised for UFC 300 has already been decided. How? Unfortunately, no. The UFC head honcho is yet to actually announce it and there’s a good chance it will take him a while to let people know when the fight is and who will be featuring it. But reading between the lines on his recent comments will feed the fans’ expectations in major ways.

Hours ago, Dana White sat down for a press conference after finishing the Power Slap 6 event. His words let out an interesting detail. He told the press that he still has to set up two more fights for UFC 300. How does that affect the main event?

What did Dana White say without saying?

The two fights Dana White is working on setting up are not the main event. That’s right, he confirmed that what he’s trying to work on is the co-main event for UFC 300 and “another one”. Does this mean Gaethje vs. Holloway for the BMF belt will be the main event? He also told the press that they’ve been through a lot of trouble just to make sure that the fights came through, but it was still all in the processing stage.

White said, “I’d announce it now if we had it.” He further added, “We’ve gone through a lot of crazy sh*t trying to put this fight together. So, it’s been interesting. No date, ASAP is the date.” So, since the co-main is still in the works, fans can only expect the main event to be a done deal and the announcement will drop soon. Or one of the announced fights will take the main event spot.

However, with White teasing something massive, that seems unlikely. Recently, Justin Gaethje was asked about his opinion on what the main event could be. As mentioned before, he will be on the same card battling it out with Max Holloway as he defends his BMF belt.

Earlier White had revealed that whatever people were waiting for about UFC 300 could completely change and mentioned that “every fight on the card already could be a main event.”

For ‘The Highlight,’ there are some good options that he speculates could grace the main event. On the top of his list would be none other than the former middleweight champion of the world, Israel Adesanya. Will ‘Izzy’ finally make his much-awaited comeback in April?

What does Gaethje say?

Justin Gaethje had a chat with ‘The Schmo’ who asked him about his predictions of the main event. For both, Schmo and Gaethje, it seemed rather obvious that Israel Adesanya would be a great choice. More interestingly, the two speculated that instead of fighting Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight championship, ‘Izzy’ could take on Alex Pereira instead.

Pereira may have been teasing a fight with Tom Aspinall but fighting Adesanya might just be his precedence for ‘Poatan’. Why? Because he has previously spoken about how he doesn’t want to rush getting into the heavyweight division and wants to focus on defending his LHW title first. Also, he called Adesanya out as soon as he won the belt. So the dots connect. But will Dana White draw the line?
