UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell had an illustrious career. His Pro-MMA record has 21 wins and 9 losses. The losses column had a lot of entries in his later career. ‘Iceman’ lost 6 out of his last 7 fights and these losses were the reason he thought of retiring. Dana White, however, knew that Liddell will not be able to stay away from fighting for too long. He didn’t want him to fight in another promotion either, as he was still a headline act when he retired. In a recent interview with Paddy Pimblett, the 53-year-old revealed the details behind his retirement.

‘The Baddy’ hosted Chuck Liddell on his YouTube channel. The duo talked about a lot of things and Liddell‘s retirement was one of them. ‘Iceman’ said, he missed fighting since he retired. He also went on to explain what had transpired before his retirement.
Chuck Liddell reveals his retirement details
Talking to Paddy Pimblett, the 53-year-old revealed how his losses subsequently made him realize he was not being able to compete at the level he wanted. He remembered how, despite his best, he lost, and that made him realize he should get away from the fighting. Talking to ‘The Baddy’, Liddell said, “I decided, okay, I just can’t compete at the level I want to compete anymore. I mean, it would have been a lot easier. Like I lost quite a few fights in a row, but if I was losing those fights and then got knocked out of a lot easier but I was”
The 53-year-old then mentioned, ” I’ve always felt I was winning the fight, and I got caught. Yeah, I messed up so I could fix it you know but that’s what the last one I even finally went well I just I got everything the best I could do I did everything the best I could get ready for this and it still ended wrong.”

He further added, “I knew I did. I mean Dana talks back to me it’s funny because they I think Dana [White] says he made me retire but we had a meeting in all intents he didn’t intend on tell me he was going to let me go yeah and it’s gonna if you wanna I’m not gonna fight you anymore but the first thing he said I said so what we’re gonna do I’m like I’m done.”
Liddell was paid to retire by the UFC president
Chuck Liddell was always a fan’s favorite. Dana White didn’t want Liddell for another promotion, so he even after retiring, the UFC paid ‘Iceman’ as an executive. Liddell talked in detail with ‘The MMA Hour’ about his UFC job. His job was to do nothing. While Dana White was comfortable with the arrangement but the WME-IMG regime didn’t think so. The job was promised to be a lifetime thing for the 53-year-old but was halted. Liddell found it difficult initially when the job ended abruptly, but found his way through.
