Dana White at the RNC—Is he a hero for speaking out or just stirring the pot?

UFC CEO Dana White will be making an appearance at the Republican National Convention in support of former president Donald Trump. The two have a long history together going back to the promotion’s early days when Zuffa LLC had just taken over the UFC from its previous owner. During this time, the UFC also faced hurdles in trying to set up events and get sanctioned by state athletic commissions due to the negative perceptions surrounding the sport at the time.

However, Trump stepped up by letting the UFC host their cards at the Trump Taj Mahal which later led to White proclaiming in an interview with ‘Variety’, “There’s lots of misconceptions about Donald Trump. I’ve had this incredible relationship with him for many years.” Now, the UFC boss has a chance to come to the aid of the former President yet again with his appearance at the RNC in Milwaukee.

The Wall Street Journal shared the first reports of Dana White’s appearance at the RNC. This isn’t the first time the UFC boss has endorsed Trump as he spoke on Trump’s behalf at the 2016 Republican convention in Cleveland and delivered a prerecorded speech during the scaled-down 2020 convention due to the pandemic.

This time around, White will have the honor of making the final speech of the night before the former president officially accepts the party’s nomination for his presidential campaign. This year’s convention is set against the backdrop of Trump’s legal troubles, which have seemingly not deterred White’s support.

Other notable names scheduled to speak during the convention week include Donald Trump Jr., Tucker Carlson, Vivek Ramaswamy and several key figures in the RNC leadership and GOP officials and candidates like Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Rick Scott, and Senator Tom Cotton.

The event is also significant due to the recent assassination attempt on the former President during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Gunshots suddenly rang out causing a flurry of chaos as Secret Service agents rushed to Trump’s side. However, Trump then got to his feet and was ushered off stage with blood trickling from his ear, but not before he raised his fist and called  for his supporters to “fight!”. The entire incident has drawn massive praise from several high-profile names in the MMA world, including the UFC boss who proclaimed that Trump is an “ultimate American bad a**”!

White left in awe of “bad a**” move by Donald Trump

In his recent appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, UFC head honcho Dana White shared his admiration for the former president’s response to the assassination attempt. White stated, “He is one of the toughest, most resilient human beings I’ve ever met in my life…Well, when the sh*t goes down, you find out who tough guys are and who tough guys are not. This guy is the legitimate, ultimate American bad a** of all-time.”

White also revealed that he reached out to Trump once he landed as he found out reports of the assassination mid-flight. The UFC boss shared that he called his long-time friend when he had returned from the hospital after being treated for his injuries.  After being shown a picture of the bloodied former president with his fist raised in the air, White proclaimed, “That picture you just showed, that will forever go down in history 100 years after we’re dead.”

The unwavering support shown by Dana White underscores the strong bond between the UFC boss and Donald Trump despite the former president’s legal and personal challenges. It remains to be seen if the support and endorsement by White will lead to a boost for Trump’s approval but their relationship remains a unique alliance between associates from two different worlds.
