Dana White has made some daring choices as the UFC’s CEO, but in a recent post-fight press conference, he made an even bolder admission. The head honcho opened up about an incident that he describes as the “dumbest thing” he has ever done. So, what was it? Well, the UFC boss revealed an absurd decision he took back in 2015 that involved risking his life for a thrill. His courageous decision involves venturing into the realm of bull riding and possibly getting on the path that might’ve led to several broken bones.
White described the incident with surprising honesty, acknowledging that riding a bull was a move he regretted dearly. “So I rode a bull back in 2015, which is what got me into this. It’s one of the dumbest things that I’ve ever done,” he admitted. According to the UFC boss, when he tied his hand to the bull and prepared to ride, the craziness of the moment struck him like a freight train. The bull began slamming his legs against the bars, preventing him from getting his hand up quickly enough. He described the entire experience as horrifying, where the risk of injury became all too real.
The head honcho went on to say that in 2015, there were no padded bars like the ones he observed at the PBR event. This made things much more dangerous. Dana White stated how his emotions changed from excitement to panic as the bull began to act unpredictably. He said, “They’re strapping my hand to the bull and I’m thinking… now I have to set my mind to raise my hand to tap them open this thing up, but the bull starts smashing your legs against the bars. So, you can’t pull your hand up fast enough. And, I noticed at the PBR all the bars were padded for that reason, but when we did that they weren’t padded.” Despite his regrets, he couldn’t help but giggle at his own foolish decision, knowing that his adrenaline-fueled journey would be a turning point in his life.

This confession comes as White’s bull, Dana White’s Playmate, makes its Professional Bull Riding (PBR) debut. Though his bull’s debut was far from perfect, with the beast disqualifying itself after knocking out its rider, White’s big admission about his own experience with bull riding adds humor to the situation. But how did the UFC’s boss end up getting disqualified, and how did Dana White get into the sport in the first place?
Dana White’s venture into bull riding is as weird as it gets
Building on his confession about the “dumbest” thing he’s ever done, Dana White’s bull-riding journey continues in ways he never could have anticipated. His foray into professional bull riding began in an unusual way, and now his bull, Dana White’s Playmate, is officially part of the chaotic spectacle. The head honcho’s initial purchase proved that he wasn’t in it for the excitement. His bull-riding investment has a bizarre and amusing backstory. White’s initial foray into the sport occurred while filming Lookin’ for a Fight in 2015. Despite the fear he had while riding a bull, his interest in the activity remained strong. He quickly found himself purchasing his first bull from a ranch owned by Dennis Davis, a well-known bull-riding figure. However, the UFC boss’s early bulls did not exactly set the world on fire, consistently underperforming. Despite this, White’s dedication to the sport remained unwavering, and after several fruitless efforts, he finally found a bull capable of competing on the big stage: the notorious Twisted Steel. With the debut of Dana White’s Playmate, the UFC CEO’s name is once again linked to another massively successful business. As his bull made its dramatic entry in the PBR Teams competition, Dana White couldn’t help but laugh at the chaos.

His bull’s debut was tarnished by an early disqualification after knocking out its rider. As Dana White said in the press conference, “The guy who handles all my bulls is my partner Dennis Davis. So I’ll let him figure that out, but he was mean and nasty; that’s why we got him. So yeah, thank God that kid was all right.” But this setback has not deterred White from investing even more in the sport. He’s gotten so involved in bull riding that TKO Group Holdings is now packaging UFC and PBR events together. The head honcho’s latest effort is more than just showing off his wild side; it’s about creating something long-lasting and maybe as feared as his bulls. What do you think? Will Dana White be able to find success in this venture as well? Let us know in the comments.
