UFC Kansas City was an entertaining event for fans as Max Holloway secured the 24th win of his MMA career in the main event against fellow featherweight Arnold Allen. While the fight card turned out to be a success for the promotion, it also had its share of controversy due to the judge’s decision in the fight between Joselyne Edwards and Lucie Pudilová.
This fight, which Edwards won via split decision, much to the shock of viewers, had drawn reactions from fans and even former champ and commentator Daniel Cormier. Speaking about it in the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White too mentioned the controversial decision and interestingly remarked that another top UFC executive had apparently sent him a text message following the fight.

Addressing the media in the post-fight press conference, White claimed that he happened to miss out on the fight, which also was the first one in the preliminary card of the event. The 53-year-old then revealed that following the controversial decision, top UFC exec Mick Maynard had sent him a text message talking about the decision.
“I came in right as it was ending. I did miss the first fight of the night and I got a text from Mick that said if this is how the judging is going to be tonight we’re in for a real sh**ty night. So yeah, I missed that one.” he said.
When asked if he was planning to take a look at how the fight went, White also expressed his desire to take a deeper look into it.
“I gotta look deeper into it. I don’t know enough about it yet but I do know that Mick agreed and said that, but a bunch of us didn’t see it,” he stated.
Joselyne Edwards beat Lucie Pudilová in a controversial decision
Following the three-round fight between Edwards and Pudilová, fans were subject to a shocking decision as the scorecard revealed that Edwards had somehow managed to take home a split-decision win. Although it looked like Edwards had lost the majority of the fight, two of the judges gave her the win with a 29-28 scorecard. Reacting to this, even former champ Daniel Cormier too had expressed his disgust at the controversial decision.
That’s really bad! What a bad start to the night with Judging. Holy shit
