While announcing the replacement for the canceled fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, Dana White made a huge blunder. In the video wherein the UFC CEO announced the fighters who would replace McGregor and Chandler in the main event for UFC 303, White mistakenly revealed a board that had names displayed for UFC Perth. Two of those names were Israel Adesanya and Dricus du Plessis. And hours after the blunder, White was forced to make it official.

But even before the revelation was UFC official, Adesanya took to social media and announced his fight at UFC 305. He also sent a three-word message to DDP with video footage on X.  Without a doubt, White wasn’t very happy with the act.

A few hours back, Adesanya took to X and targeted Du Plessis with a montage of him training and striking. He wrote, “I release you…” in the caption and then an Arabic word that directly translated to ‘Dragon’, followed by a hashtag of UFC 305. He also declared that he would fight du Plessis and try to reclaim the UFC middleweight championship belt on Instagram. Without a doubt, it didn’t sit well with the UFC head honcho. He simply didn’t like ‘The Last Stylebender’ announcing his own fight.

In a recent interview with Jim Rome, on ‘The Jim Rome Show’, White opened up on Adesanya’s fight at Perth. When the Radio Hall of Famer asked the UFC CEO if the New Zealander would get a title shot, White had no choice but to make it official. He said, “Yeah. Apparently he already announced his own fight. He’s fighting in Perth. Yes. You’ll see him fighting here, soon. Du Plessis, yep. August 17th, in Perth. Now it’s official.”

Thereafter, Rome hilariously asked White to be glad that the former champ told them about his fight. But White’s dismissal was palpable. He declared that Adesanya hadn’t informed the officials. Instead, he simply announced the fight. He said, “Yeah. No, he didn’t tell us. I saw that he had announced it, so there it is.”

But why did Adesanya announce his own fight? All the pointers aim at the blunder that the UFC head honcho committed while announcing the replacement for the UFC 303 main event. Let’s see what the former MW champion had to say as he announced his fight at UFC Perth.

‘The Last Stylebender’ would finally settle the ‘real African’ debate

After Dana White announced that Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka would be the ones to fight in the main event of UFC 303, and leaked some of the names for UFC 305, Adesanya took to Instagram and confirmed that he would fight DDP. He shared an image wherein he donned the new UFC golden gloves with his hands raised high. The caption read, “The SUN of Africa is the same sun that lights up our planet. The SUN will set and will rise again until you walk into it. 🌅 The SUN, enjoy while it shines. Darkness falls when it’s gone.”
