The brainchild of the UFC president Dana White, Power Slap, burst on the scene when it aired its first episode on TBS. UFC lynchpin started working on the new combat sports way back in 2017, which only materialized in 2023. However, his novel project paid dividends and ballooned to $200 million while the initial investment was a mere $10 million. Further, another deal related to the Power Slap was closed recently. The figures are analogous to what the former UFC champion Francis Ngannou demanded from the promotion for contract renewal. Notably, the former heavyweight champion, after lengthy negotiations, couldn’t find a favorable deal.
Afterward, the dejected Cameroonian fighter sought a way out of the promotion and embraced the free agent tag. While ‘The Predator’ might be headed to another rival promotion, the talks of him trying a hand in boxing have gained traction as well. Despite the loss of one of the prized possession in the promotion, the Power Slap emerged as another revenue generator.

The 53-year-old in a conversation with Grant Cardone disclosed the enormous financial success Power Slap amassed. Thus, he said, “We invested 10 million bucks in it and I literally closed the deal last night for two years, 25 million dollars. All the goodies you want to do.”
Interestingly, the former 265lbs champion bargained for an $8 million per fight pay for a stretch of 3 fights which was turned down. However, White counteroffered to agree with the same pay, but for an extended contract for 8 fights. The counteroffer didn’t sit well with the heavyweight fighter, who ultimately preferred to pursue the alternative path.
The Connecticut native, later on, expanded on the details of the Power Slap which became a phenomenon on the internet.
