Dana White Receives His Main Event For Conor McGregor as Ilia Topuria Lays Out UFC Spain Demands After Michael Chandler Fight

It seems like everyone wants to double down on Conor McGregor. The former dual-weight champion has been called out by the featherweight division’s number-one contender, Ilia Topuria. Now, after being called out by Michael Chandler and Manny Pacquiao, McGregor is yet to make a comeback, but it seems he already has an army of fighters ready to face him.

Ilia Topuria is gearing up for the biggest challenge of his career, facing Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title. ‘El Matador’ is confident that he will secure the championship. The Spanish native has already made plans beyond his clash with ‘Volk.’ For Topuria, a fight with McGregor is much more significant than any matchup in the division.

Ilia Topuria wants Conor Mcgregor at all cost

UFC 298 is just days away and it feels as if Ilia Topuria is already ready to face the boogeyman of the division, Alexander Volkanovski. ‘El Matador’ believes in the threads of fate and he is certain that the featherweight title is made only for him. Topuria is not shy to state that he is one of the best in the sport. In his latest escapade, ‘El Matador’ has brashly called out Conor McGregor.

“Conor McGregor, that’s the fight I’m looking for. He has a great fight with Mike Chandler. If he doesn’t get his ass whooped, he will be a pleasure to share the Octagon with me,” voiced Topuria to Ariel Helwani at The MMA Hour.

In a rather brash manner, Topuria challenged McGregor to headling the UFC’s Spain event with him “Maybe in UFC Spain. We’re both from Europe, and he will be able to go back home and tell his wife, ‘Baby, take out the red panties. Topuria kept us rich”.  Buzz has already been built by Topuria about the McGregor fight.

It must be noted that this is noted that, Topuria has been eyeing McGregor for a long now and his comeback announcements were music to his ears. In another statement, he admitted that beating McGregor is one of his dreams and he is planning on executing it if the UFC gives him a chance.

Why is Ilia Topuria so hellbent on fighting McGregor?

Conor McGregor was the first man in the UFC to hold two titles at the same time. ‘Notorious’ did what many thought was not possible. This single act made McGregor one of the biggest stars in the realm of fighting. In terms of generating revenue for the UFC, there’s hardly any fighter who comes close to McGregor. it is no wonder that everyone wants to face him but Topuria’s ambitions are different.

“It would be historic. To have 60-70,000 people together in a matter of minutes? Honestly, beating Conor I don’t think it would position me as a legend, it would be a stepping stone. He has a fight scheduled so it also all depends on how he comes out of that fight, how the stars align…the future will show us everything. Everyone has his time, he has had his time, I have mine.” said Topuria in a separate statement.

‘El Matador’ just wants to beat McGregor that’s it. There’s no ifs and buts behind it. Nonetheless, the happening of their matchup is at the mercy of UFC. Do you believe a matchup between Ilia Topuria and Conor Mcgregor would be possible?
