UFC just wrapped up their London event, which was a success with two first-round finishes in the co-main and main event. Following that, UFC Executive VP of Content and International, David Shaw, mentioned that a return for an event in Ireland is in the works for 2024 with a reminder about Conor McGregor.

UFC London showcased some tremendous fights, with Tom Aspinall returning strong with a TKO finish over Marcin Tybura. Meanwhile, David Shaw appeared in the post-fight press conference and was asked about the UFC’s return to Ireland. He gave a positive response to that question.

During the press conference, Shaw mentioned the UFC approaching 10 years since Conor McGregor defeated Diego Brandão in Dublin. The fact was pointed out to him by one of the members of the social media team.

Keeping this in mind, Shaw mentioned that a return to Ireland is one that they’re planning to do very soon.

“Yes [on returning to Ireland], the short answer is yes,” said David Shaw during the press conference. He added, “It was pointed out earlier on by one of the key guys on our social media team that next July will mark 10 years of the Conor fight. [Ireland is on] the top of the list for sure. We wanna get back at some point, just not sure when. “ Meanwhile, this sentiment was also echoed earlier by UFC president Dana White.

Dana White’s comments on a return to Ireland

The 53-year-old promoter appeared in UFC 289’s post-fight pressers when he was asked about the same thing David Shaw was asked in London – a possible return to Ireland. Dana White mentioned how there were a lot of places where they wanted to go back to, and Ireland was one of them. He said, “There are so many places for us to still get out to where we haven’t been for a while. But Ireland is certainly one of them.”

He recalled Conor McGregor’s fight from 10 years ago and recalled how his home crowd erupted with an unusual celebration after ‘The Notorious’ victory. White claimed it was one of the best events he’d ever participated in. He added, “One of the greatest events I’ve been ever a part of was in Ireland, the night that Conor won that fight there and literally the entire stadium threw their beers up in the air. It was one of the coolest events I’ve ever been to.”
