Arman Tsarukyan looks like he is quite a businessman. While most UFC fighters are more worried about the legacy they leave behind than anything else, the Armenian contender is different. Going into his UFC 311 clash against lightweight champ Islam Makhachev this Saturday, ‘Ahalkalakets’ has made one thing clear- if beats Makhachev and fulfills his dream of becoming UFC champion, he will focus on just one thing after- ‘sweet green cash!’

“When I win the title, the sports thing is done. It’s gonna start [being] just a business [to me]. And I’m gonna pick with who UFC pays me more, I’m gonna fight, doesn’t matter who it’s gonna be… Right now it’s [for] the legacy, to be champion. And then business. After this fight, when I’m the champion, I’m gonna only think about money not to be like two-time champion or like defend ten times, I’m just gonna think of, like, money fights,” Tsarukyan told Henry Cejudo and Kamaru Usman on their ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast.

To be fair, beating Makhachev, who looks nigh unbeatable to become champion would be a huge boost to Tsarukyan’s profile and legacy. In addition, the lightweight division is perhaps the most stacked division in the promotion, full of veritable superstars. This is why the gap between the big money fights and the most deserving title challengers is likely not to be a big one.

For instance, the next man up for a lightweight tile shot seems to be former champion Charles Oliveira. ‘Do Bronx’, of course, is one of the most beloved fighters in the entire promotion and is probably the guy Tsarukyan makes the most money against if he beats Makhachev. After that, however, the title picture is a lot more murkier. But for now, Tsarukyan needs to focus on beating Makhachev, and the Armenian has some pretty unique tactics planned for it.

Arman Tsarukyan badly wants to beat Islam Makhachev. The Armenian challenger has promised he will pull out a ‘secret technique’ during their fight. While he has obviously not revealed what exactly it would be (since it won’t be a secret anymore), it has given fans another thing to look forward to in their already electrifying matchup.

However, he did drop some hints about it. “I mean like how can I say [what my secret technique is]? It’s a technique, I mean just they ask me, I answered. Of course, every fight you like preparing something [new],” Tsarukyan told ‘Shak MMA’ in an interview.

“So last fight, I was preparing the axe kick and I thought like [with an] axe kick, I could knock him [Charles Oliveira] out. I landed good but like I didn’t hurt him. So this time I’m trying to create something new, you know. Every fight you got to show some new technique because your fighters [opponents] watch your fights, and they already know like what you are going to do. And when you like to throw some new kick or do some new take down or punch, it’s like something unusual,”

The Armenian, of course, is a world-class wrestler, and UFC 311 will be the first time Makhachev goes against a grappler since becoming champion three years ago. And Tsarukyan has the perfect albeit unorthodox game plan to try and beat the dominant champion. Tsarukyan plans on hurting Makhachev and hurting him early in their fight since he is sure that would make the champ forget his game plan and fight almost on pure instinct.

The Armenian looks in terrific shape, too, the fittest he has ever looked, another indication of just how much the fight means to him. After all, if he wins this fight, it would change Tsarukyan’s life and open the door to him making some very serious money. What do you think about Arman Tsarukyan’s plans to fight for money if he beats Islam Makahchev at UFC 311?
