UFC CEO Dana White has brought the UFC Performance Institute to Mexico! At the moment, the UFC boasts of having two PIs or ‘Performance Institutes’, in locations like Las Vegas and Shanghai. The Las Vegas facility was launched in 2017, while the Shanghai facility opened its doors for fighters in 2019. Interestingly, the PI in Shanghai holds the distinction of being the world’s largest MMA training facility.

And in a recent update on social media, the UFC boss revealed that the promotion has finally launched its long-awaited PI in Mexico City. In the post, White also highlighted the long process to make his “dream” a reality!

Ahead of the inauguration of the UFC PI in Mexico, Dana White spoke to ESPN MMA where he outlined his plans for the facility and revealed, “What I want in Mexico is I want to take kids off the streets…”

He also stated that he aims to introduce them to various martial arts disciplines like Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, with the hope that they’ll pursue careers as fighters, and coaches, or contribute to the sport in other capacities. And so, to celebrate the opening of the PI, White took to Instagram where he shared a video of him cutting the ribbon to mark the historic occasion.

He captioned the post, “This has been a dream and goal of mine since 2001. To finally be here and walk the halls of the @ufcpi in Mexico City is a monumental moment in the history of our sport. The impact this facility will have on Mexico, as well as, both Central and South America will be MASSIVE.”

Therefore, the inauguration of the PI represents the culmination of years of planning and effort, symbolizing a new chapter in the history of MMA in Mexico and beyond. As Dana White and the UFC look forward to the potential impact of the facility, the community eagerly anticipates the growth of MMA talent and the positive influence it will have on aspiring fighters and coaches in the region.

But with the UFC hosting another card in Mexico in the coming week, White also revealed that he has big plans for the region before he decides to wrap up his career as the UFC boss!

White reveals his long-term goals for fighters from Mexico  

UFC CEO Dana White aims to foster more Mexican UFC superstars before he retires! He already boasts of being part of the rise of two Mexican-born fighters who held UFC titles – Alexa Grasso and Brandon Moreno.

As such, in a recent interview with ESPN, ahead of the upcoming UFC card in Mexico City, White stated, “Mexico has always been a plan since day one. But, you know, probably five or six years into (owning the UFC), once we started thinking about “The Ultimate Fighter” and where we were gonna go, Mexico has been very important to me.”

He also revealed that the UFC envisions hosting another “Noche UFC” event in September during Mexican Independence Day weekend, further solidifying the promotion’s commitment to Mexico.
