Who wouldn’t want to see a generational clash between two flagbearers of excellence? We are of course talking about interim king Tom Aspinall and current division king Jon Jones. Everyone is eager to see it, including UFC boss Dana White, who initially showed little interest in the duo fighting but has now been vocal about it for quite some time. Aspinall has already defended his title once and has been outspoken about being eligible for a title unification fight. Despite his frequent appeals for s scrap against Jones, Dana White continues to dodge his calls.
However, recently, in an interview with TNT Sports, things took an unexpected turn when host Adam Catterall brought up the potential Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall matchup. Catterall asked, “Heavyweight MMA, Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall—oh man, that might be the best fight in MMA,” to which White nodded in agreement and responded, “I don’t disagree. People will lose their minds if either one of those fights happens.” Nevertheless, Dana White went on to emphasize that, even if it’s not against Jon Jones, the fight with Stipe might still be in the cards.
British sensation Tom Aspinall, at 31 years old, has quickly made a name for himself in the UFC, holding an impressive 8-1 record in just four years. Most of his wins have come by knockout, showcasing his deadly striking ability, which has put him on the verge of becoming the face of the heavyweight division.

However, one major obstacle remains and that is Jon Jones. ‘Bones’ still holds the title and carries an untarnished legacy as the top star of the promotion. The only way to claim the title is not by waiting for Jones to retire but by defeating him—something that Aspinall has yet to accomplish. While it is rumored that Jon’s next fight could be his last, Aspinall has not shied away from the challenge, passing the torch to Stipe Miocic, Jones’s upcoming opponent, and still positioning himself as a future contender.

However, Tom Aspinall, who has been outspoken against Jon Jones in recent times, does not agree with the current narrative surrounding the UFC 309 headline fight. Aspinall believes that if Miocic employs his simple yet effective boxing, it could give him the upper hand to overcome the champion. Aspinall revealed, “The answer is pretty simple. Punch him in the face really hard. That’s the way he’s going to win. Stipe has got a lot of knockouts on his record.”
Now, all eyes are on Jon Jones after the conclusion of UFC 309. Will ‘Bones’ continue his MMA career to face the British sensation, Tom Aspinall, in the highly anticipated heavyweight clash, or is retirement on the horizon? Drop your opinion below.
