The allure to return to the bright lights of the octagon is irresistible. Over the years, we’ve seen many retired fighters come back, with Henry Cejudo being the most recent example. As such, former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and former BMF champion Jorge Masvidal had also announced plans to make a return. However, they may not like what Dana White had to say when he was asked about the possibility of them returning to action.
‘Street Jesus’ and ‘T-Wood’ departed the MMA juggernaut in a similar fashion. They racked up consecutive losses, and couldn’t finish their UFC careers on a high. While it’s been three years for Woodley since he last fought, it’s been just over a year for Masvidal who went on to become a promoter. Being away from the fight game has been hard for the welterweight duo, but the UFC head honcho doesn’t want to see them back inside the Octagon as he made it crystal clear during the recent Contender Series presser.
“Probably not,” Dana White stated when asked about considering Woodley and Masvidal’s offer to return to the UFC. The 55-year-old didn’t have to hesitate or think too much while responding to the question, as the two former champions are already past their prime, with one already in his forties and the other approaching it by the end of this year. Do you think it was a wise decision from the UFC CEO?

While Dana White doesn’t see any sense in seeing Jorge Masvidal and Tyron Woodley come back, he has kept the door open for another former champion. It appears that the head honcho is all in for an Amanda Nunes comeback.

Dana White is all in for the return of ‘The Lioness’
After reclaiming her lost bantamweight gold at UFC 307, Julianna Pena called out her old foe, Amanda Nunes, for a trilogy, as both share one win over each other. However, Dana White didn’t address that callout in the post-fight presser, but he did show some excitement when ‘The Lioness’s name popped up. She shared a message with the UFC CEO, which prompted him to claim that he’s always ready to see Nunes return to action.

“She looks great. Looks like she’s still in shape, so you know where her head’s at. There’s a lot of things I love about her [and] I love that about her. She’s keeping an eye on who wins the title next [but] I think she’s teasing that she might be interested in coming back,” said White. “I love Amanda Nunes [and] I have an incredible relationship with her. I would absolutely love to see her come back.”

When one door closes another opens, so maybe if the UFC isn’t where they can return, Jorge Masvidal and Tyron Woodley would consider making the move to the PFL. Well, anything can happen and we’ll have to wait and see how things pan out for the two former UFC stars.
