Alex Pereira is the human wrecking ball of the division! The UFC light heavyweight champion once again demonstrated his credentials as the most dangerous knockout artist by battering Khalil Rountree Jr. in their UFC 307 clash last weekend. And his sister, Aline Pereira, is not far behind. Aline is also a professional fighter like ‘Poatan’, and fought Irishwoman Dee Begley on the Karate Combat 50 card under special rules last night.
The Brazilian channeled her inner ‘Poatan’ and went on to knock out her opponent in the very first round, after which she ran to hug her UFC champion brother who was present in the crowd ringside. And this knockout victory has forced even Dana White to take notice. The UFC CEO shared Aline’s knockout on his Instagram Story and congratulated her with a caption that read “Like brother like sister”
Aline Pereira KO’ed her opponent with a NASTY left hook 😳
The emotions were clearly high when Aline jumped into the arms of her brother and her coach.

Aline used to compete in Glory Kickboxing, but had her last fight there in 2021, and followed her brother into MMA the next year, and has had three pro MMA fights so far, winning one and losing two of them. And even though her knockout will not reflect on her MMA record since it was under mixed rules, she has impressed Dana White, which could open the doors to a spot on the UFC roster. However, there is still a long way to go until she can think about entering the UFC given her current record. But she is certainly on the right path. Speaking of paths, her brother, too is on a path, but that path leads to being considered the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.
Daniel Cormier insists Alex Pereira in the GOAT conversation
With his victory over Khalil Rountree Jr., some such as UFC commentator and former champion Daniel Cormier have already started saying Pereira deserves to be in the GOAT conversation. And now the Brazilian champ has the opportunity to cement himself as the top contender in that conversation.

The next few fights, of course, would be crucial to determining Pereira’s all-time status. Especially if he can move up to heavyweight and becomes the UFC’s first-ever three-division champion. That, of course, is much easier said than done. Especially with the likes of Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall reigning atop the UFC’s heaviest division.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Aline Pereira the next big thing in MMA, following in her brother's footsteps?
Have an interesting take?
That is why there is a considerable risk involved in Pereira potentially moving up too. After all, few things are as fickle as the UFC fanbase, which turns on a dime after a win or a loss. A loss will certainly hurt ‘Poatan’s stock, and a bad loss may even hurt his legacy. What do you think about Aline Pereira’s sensational knockout? And do you have Alex Pereira on your GOAT list?
