UFC CEO Dana White is currently basking in the success of UFC 306: Riyadh Season Noche. Recently, White has been vocal about boxing, as highlighted in his statement promoting the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois fight on Social media. He said, “I’m jumping on a plane and flying to Dublin, Ireland for the boxing match this weekend,” to promoting the fight between Callum Wlash and Runowski. While some fans speculated this was merely a promotional stunt due to his recent stint with Turki Al-Sheikh, they were mistaken.

Now, Dana White has made another big announcement at a UFC Fight pre-fight interview. When asked by fans about acquiring new fighters from the “grassroot level,” White confidently replied, “Listen, I mean, that’s what I do. That’s what I’ve done since the beginning of my career; it’s the way that it has to be done. There will be some big announcements soon and let me tell you.”

Dana White further emphasized his commitment to following through on his promises, stating, “I you know anything about me and you go back and look at anything I’ve ever said, I never say anything that I don’t do. Ever, I’ve never said that. We’ve been kicking the whole boxing thing around for a long time; you’ve never heard me commit and say, ‘I am in, I am in.'”  This dedication is evident in White’s past actions, whether it was raising fighter bonuses to $300k for UFC 300 or the decision to cut the undefeated Muhammad Mokaev from the promotion. White always stands by his decisions and never backs down.

Possible reasons for Dana White supporting Callum Walsh

UFC and its CEO Dana White are currently the prime targets of criticism, and the reason is quite simple: the increasing number of grappler champions compared to striking-background fighters in the promotion, which is generally considered boring by fans and critics. Recently, when Belal Muhammad became the welterweight champion by dethroning the primary striker Leon Edwards, and later Merab Dvalishvili, a Georgian wrestler, defeated Sean O’Malley to claim the bantamweight title, it disappointed many fans.

This dissatisfaction could lead Dana White to seek out more strikers like Conor McGregor, Eddie Alvarez, and Nate Diaz, who once brought more excitement and glory to the UFC. In a recent interview, Freddie Roach claimed, “We’ve had a lot of success with the Irish here with Conor, and I think this kid could become extremely popular with the Irish. I’m not saying he’s going to be [as popular as] Conor, but he’s a great kid and he has a really fun fighting style. We can take him to New York and Boston and really build him into something.”
