Remember the crazy frenzy the world went into when Elon Musk challenged Mark Zuckerberg for an MMA fight? Well, that’s a topic that stayed in the headlines for months and also captured the attention of the biggest MMA promoter in the world, Dana White. It seems like the UFC CEO went to great lengths to make this fight a possibility, which is apparent in his recent revelation about that missed opportunity.

Despite both parties sharing training picks and clips for the battle of the billionaires, Mark Zuckerberg would later move on from it, citing that Elon Musk wasn’t really serious about that fight. However, little did people know that Dana White was on it with a master plan: trying to set up that fight inside the Colosseum.

The news of two billionaires planning to take each other’s head off in a cage match was already a big shocker, but what came next from the Tesla CEO surprised people even more. Elon Musk wanted to fight inside one of the seven wonders of the world, the Colosseum. Dana White loved that and in the wake of the UFC 306’s success inside the Sphere, the 55-year-old claimed that “crazy” undertakings excite him the most, while citing the Musk-Zuckerberg fight as an example.

“Me wanting to do the Sphere, something will pop up that you don’t understand, didn’t expect to happen and I jump on it when they pop up,” Dana White stated during the post-fight presser. “It’s probably a bad example, but at one point, I was talking about Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg. So, any crazy sh*t that pops up in front of me [I take it].”

The 55-year-old would surprise people after he’d go a bit deeper to disclose what he tried to do to get the ‘Musk vs Zuck’ fight to fruition. He subsequently revealed that he tried to contact the people in charge of looking after the Colosseum when he was in Italy. The UFC boss often visits Italy for vacations, so why not give it a shot? Right?

He was in that country recently when the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump went down as well. However, the Italian authorities weren’t too keen on hosting a fight in the Colosseum, so the negotiations fell apart. “I was legit negotiating with the Colosseum in Italy to do that fight. [I was] legitimately in negotiation with the [the Italian authorities], and they let anything happen over there,” Dana White added.

Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg in the octagon—Is this the craziest idea Dana White's ever had?

Have an interesting take?

The Colosseum is almost two thousand years old and even though from time to time it undergoes some renovations, it remains a historical monument and an important aspect of Italian identity. So, of course, they didn’t want to put on a show in there.

As valuable as Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are to their companies and the industries they thrive in, it seems unlikely that this fight will ever turn into reality. Even the Meta CEO’s executives weren’t happy with his martial arts venture in the past. So rest assured this fantasy bout will remain a daydream for the most of it!
