Ilia Topuria is making a lot of noise. In a short space of time, he has fetched himself a title fight against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298. Ahead of the fight, he had made bold claims of easily defeating the champion. He even revealed his plans for the future following a potential victory against the featherweight champion. According to him, there is no incentive to remain in the featherweight division after becoming the champion, and he wants to challenge fighters from the lightweight division.
Amongst others, he called out none other than the biggest star in the sport, Conor McGregor. However, these claims have left the MMA world in splits, but Dana White, the CEO of UFC, is not that quick to dismiss it.

Everybody wants to take a shot at McGregor for financial incentives. It is not uncommon to see UFC fighters regularly call him out. However, this call-out is unique for multiple reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that Topuria has proved to be an unconquerable challenge, remaining undefeated throughout his career. Subsequently, Dana White thinks he has the right to be pompous.
In an interview, when asked, White said, “I think that, I don’t know about that. So I think, he’s got a lot. Listen, when you’re undefeated, you’ve never tasted defeat. You know, and you’ve been on the rise that this guy is on, that’s the way you should be thinking, and that’s what your mentality should be. But, we’ll see how it plays out on Saturday night.”
It is safe to say that this match-up might be on the cards, provided Topuria wins at UFC 298. However, if the fight does take place, how does the featherweight contender see it going down? Let’s find out.

There is a significant weight disparity between the two combatants. Not to mention, at this point, McGregor is a veteran of the sport and also beats him in experience. Yet, Topuria thinks that he would get a win over the Irishman with ease and thinks the former dual-weight world champion needs him more than he does.
In addition, while making a prediction, he said, “I wouldn’t care about the weight or whether he feels comfortable because I feel comfortable in whichever way I feel. And the prediction? Please, first round [knockout].” He went on to add, “Conor McGregor is a superstar. [But] now, it is clear that his numbers have also gone down due to his defeats.”
