Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has gone full throttle into his latest venture- Eagle Fighting Championship. Having purchased the promotion last year after his retirement from professional MMA in October, Nurmagomedov changed its name to Eagle FC to give it a personal touch. The Russian is now on a prospect signing spree as he prepares for Eagle FC’s first North American event.

In a recent interview with ESPN, the host asked ‘The Eagle’, if he was trying to compete with UFC president Dana White. In response, Khabib Nurmagomedov admitted he is in a healthy competition with UFC and respects Dana White.

He said, “No, Dana is my like big brother, you know, I always have very good relationship with him. Even yesterday, I was talk with him about my things. I keep in touch with him all the time. And Dana is a man you know. Maybe some people don’t like him, but who cares. Me and him, we have great relationship, you know. But if you wanna fight, we can fight in Eagle FC. You see this cage.”

The undefeated MMA fighter also revealed what makes White the best in the business. He stated, “But you know how many years Dana in this business, Like almost 30 years. How many fights he make, you know, happen. How many fans around the world he make happy. Because he make a lot of big fights, you know, and Dana is not like boxing promoter, you know.”

“They create one fight they work on this like 10 years, you know. And Dana can create like, you can watch like me vs Conor and like Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir. How many like great, great fights this guy make you know like since, like since when he beginning around his promotion UFC, you know. How many great fight we see, you know. This is because of Dana White.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov has signed former UFC fighter Kevin Lee

Nurmagomedov’s promotion will have its first North American event (Eagle FC 44) in Miami. In the build-up to the show, one prospect he signed was Kevin Lee.

Notably, Kevin Lee is a UFC veteran who had fought for the organization since 2014. However, UFC abruptly released him from their roster, possibly, because of his declining performances.

Nurmagomedov has huge ambitions for his promotion and is shooting for the top. Eagle FC also revealed that they have signed former UFC light heavyweight champion and Hall of Famer Rashad Evans for the opening event.
