Not only that but a direct comparison was made between Pimblett and Israel Adesanya on the differences in their reactions to being compared to legendary UFC fighters.
What did Dana White say?
The interviewer questioned how surprised White was by Pimblett‘s quick rise. To which, White replied, “he has that ‘it’ factor that I keep talking about… if he can keep winning these key fights, this kid will be a massive superstar.”
This reply by the UFC president justifies his thinking. It shows how White not only believes that Pimblett has what it takes to be a UFC legend, but also that he is already on his way to becoming one.
Apart from this, he also explains that there have been a lot of direct comparisons. UFC fans have been saying that Paddy Pimblett could reach the ‘Conor McGregor–level’ of fame soon.
What is the key difference between Pimblett and Israel Adesanya?
Continuing with the interview, the interviewer asks Dana White an interesting food-for-thought question. He says, “When Izzy (Israel Adesanya) was coming up, he didn’t love all the comparisons to Jon Jones, obviously Paddy’s getting all the Conor comparisons, and he seems to embrace them and handle them.”
Dana White gives a practical answer to the interviewer, explaining how Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya had a mutual dislike for each other when Adesanya was coming up as a fighter.
