At the PFL World Championship event in Riyadh, Dakota Ditcheva became the first British woman to win the women’s flyweight championship by defeating Taila Santos. The fight was defined in the second round when Ditcheva achieved a TKO victory with body shots after landing a powerful punch that left Santos unable to continue. The battle was intense, with Ditcheva demonstrating her dominance on her feet by landing a variety of punches that ultimately led to the referee’s stoppage of the match.

With this significant victory under her belt, fans have already begun to speculate about how Ditcheva would fare against other famous fighters such as Valentina Shevchenko, Alexa Grasso, and Manon Fiorot. With everyone speculating about a move to the UFC, here’s why Dana White should sign the PFL fighter in 2025.

Dakota Ditcheva has surely seen a meteoric rise in the realm of MMA. With fighting in her blood, due to her mother being Lisa Howarth, a renowned multiple-time world kickboxing champion, many knew that Ditcheva too would become a stellar fighter. However, no one expected her to see the fame that she had already achieved at just 26 years of age. And it is all thanks to sheer dominance inside the Octagon that saw her win 14 straight fights to earn herself a brilliant MMA record of 14-0-0.

She has the ability to end a bout with a single punch, a skill that was on full display during her KO win against Taila Santos. With such brutal strikes as a part of her arsenal, Ditcheva truly brings a sense of excitement every time she steps into the Octagon. Also, she is great on the mic. Fighters like Conor McGregor and Sean O’Malley are able to sell tickets just through their mic skills as they hype up a fight, and with her post-PFL win against Taila Santos, the British fighter proved that she too can deliver some savage lines.

She said in the post-fight interview, “Right from the beginning of this season if I got her in the first round, I would’ve done the same thing. She’s been saying, ‘She’s just a Barbie; she should be a model.’ Well, a model just beat your a– in round two, so shut up.” With her being an all-round package, there is no wonder that she became one of the most popular fighters in the PFL and a potential star in the UFC.

Fans demand Dana White sign the British fighter

With a physique to die for and a skill set that will make every MMA pundit her number-one fan, Ditcheva is truly a magnet that attracts fanfare. Add to that her record of 14-0-0, the youngest champion in PFL history, the first British woman to win the women’s flyweight championship in the PFL, and a family history that truly every UFC filmmaker would love to document, Dana White has a golden egg in the form of the 26-year-old.

Now, her win at the PFL World Championship in Riyadh has catapulted her into the spotlight, making her a household name in the world of mixed martial arts. She has already earned herself over 175 thousand followers along with sponsorships from brands such as Bose. However, she isn’t satisfied just yet, as she claimed after winning the championship. Ditcheva said, “The world is mine. I just beat the best girl out there. Me and PFL will come out with something amazing again.” With skills that make her a walking highlight reel, there is no denying that if Dana White ends up signing her, he will already have a fighter who brings major attention to his events.

UFC is in need of a female star for the future

If you look at the UFC’s women’s roster right now, it isn’t as stacked as it used to be some years ago. Apart from a select few like Valentina Shevchenko, Zhang Weili, and Kayla Harrison, there aren’t many fighters who bring a sense of excitement to the Octagon. Now if you segregate them into divisions, the flyweight category is in dire need of a breakout star. While Alexa Grasso did show some promise, the loss against a 37-year-old Valentina Shevchenko proved that she isn’t ready just yet. With her weakness against takedowns being visible for all to see.

While the champion herself is showing signs of aging, it won’t be long before ‘Bullet’ finally hangs up her gloves. As for the other names in the division, Rose Namajunas has already lost twice to two top-three flyweights in the division, while Erin Blanchfield is still looking for an opportunity to prove that she can be called one of the best attractions in the division. So having someone like Dakota Ditcheva will truly turn the tide for the Dana White-led promotion’s women’s division.
