The recently concluded UFC 305 event witnessed some of the best fighters put on a show for the fans. One such fighter was the 31-year-old Brazilian Carlos Prates. He took on Li Jinglaing in a highly exciting welterweight clash in Australia. The Brazilian seemed unstoppable that night, ended the fight in the second round via knockout, and has now set his sights on Michael Venom Page.
Prates is now unbeaten in his last three fights and holds a finishing rate of 100% in the UFC. The welterweight contender is looking to fast track his career by beating a big-name newcomer in Venom Page. But the Brit is not exactly answering his callout. Is this the next fight to make at 170?

Before making his move to the UFC, Michael ‘Venom’ Page had already made a name for himself in Bellator. However, with his contract running out, the promotion decided to rope in the highly exciting fighter. His inclusion in the welterweight division has made it a lot more interesting. He impressed one and all with his debut performance at UFC 299, winning the fight against Kevin Holland. However, he failed to keep his winning momentum in his second fight and lost to Ian Garry via a decision. So will he take the risk that is Carlos Prates?
MMA Junkie took to their X account to share the details of the possible clash. They shared a message which read “Carlos Prates reveals UFC wants him to fight MVP next.“ Previously, the Brazilian took to his Instagram account to share a post where he pointed out that the UFC wants to set him up for a clash with Page. However, his caption was interesting and caught the attention of many.
“I heard that the company wants to give me @michaelvenompage, but he doesn’t answer the phone. You must be having nightmares by now!” – the Brazilian wrote. Looking at his recent form, Prates is indeed a nightmare for many of the fighters in the division. However, the Brazilian is confident that he can take on the dynamic ex-Bellator star as he once mimicked his moves during a practice session.

During one of his recent interviews, he pointed out how he once helped former Bellator champion Douglas Lima prepare for his clash against MVP. Prates mimicked the moves of ‘MVP,’ and Lima did his own thing, which later helped him knock out Page in the latter’s only knockout loss in MMA. The fight has yet to be announced by the UFC, and the fans are waiting to see what happens next. While the Brazilian has shown his interest in taking on Page, the veteran fighter has something else in mind.
Michael ‘Venom’ Page wants to test his skill against a former UFC champion
There are very few fighters in the UFC who have the ability and the skill set of Michael Venom Page. The 37-year-old has a very unusual style, which makes it hard for his opponents to line him up. Although he is yet to win any title in the UFC, the former Bellator fighter has high hopes for himself in the division. During a conversation with Michael Bisping, the 37-year-old showed his willingness to take on Kamaru Usman. ‘MVP’ still hopes to win a title in his UFC career and Usman could be a slingshot to a title opportunity.

While speaking to Bisping, he pointed out how Usman has no opponent as of yet and wants to take a chance against him. He said, “I still feel like I hold weight, people are still excited to see me fight. As long as that’s the case, one small win could put me back in the conversation. I’d still like to fight Usman, he’s the number one ranked fighter. I keep saying this because he doesn’t seem to have a fight lined up.” It was believed that ‘MVP’ might just be featuring at the UFC 307 event, but it seems fans will have to wait longer to see him return. But the big question lies as to who he will be facing next.
Will ‘Venom’ accept the call out of the Brazilian? Or will he face some other fighter in the middleweight division? Let us know about it in the comments below.
