Well, well, well! Dana White broke his silence on yet another rumor about a fight that was seemingly speculated to have gone off the rails. Interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, according to certain reports, was going to put his interim title up for grabs for the second time against Ciryl Gane, with plans for a Jon Jones fight rumored to have fallen off. But the 55-year-old claims that’s not true.

It was last year when Dana White claimed that he believes there is no bigger fight in all of MMA than the heavyweight clash between the interim champion and the undisputed champion, Jon Jones. However, ‘Bones’ would come out recently asking for six months to prepare for the potential fight against Tom Aspinall, giving rise to rumors about another interim title defense for the English star.

In the wake of the rumors of Tom Aspinall potentially taking on Ciryl Gane, there were calls for Jon Jones to be stripped of his undisputed title since he’d been avoiding the Manchester native for a long time. While legends like Dan Hardy have been calling for it since last year, Hall of Famer Michael Bisping was the last to join the bandwagon as well. However, it doesn’t look like that will happen because fans have some good news from Dana White.

Dana White claims that people have heard wrong. Claiming that the only source they need to watch for when it comes to UFC fights is from the UFC’s matchmaking team, which includes him as well. The 55-year-old appeared to still maintain that sentiment when he dismissed rumors about the plans for that fight falling off, and assured that the title unification fight will happen in 2025.

“Everything you hear is bulls–t until we say,” Dana White stated at the UFC Kansas City post-fight press conference“I have said it many times that’s a fight that we wanna make this year… Still super confident [that it will happen].”

How motivated is Jon Jones? A UFC legend asks

Jon Jones has done it all and done it better than any other fighter in the history of the UFC. He’s been a champion in two divisions, has the most title fights, and has taken on generations of great fighters, cementing his status as arguably the greatest of all time. So, what’s the motivating factor now for his decision not to retire after beating Stipe Miocic at UFC 309? UFC legend and former champion Georges St-Pierre mentioned how Jones is ageing with each passing year, so he wants to know if the undisputed heavyweight champion is as hungry as Aspinall is, who’s in the prime of his career.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dana White's confidence in the Aspinall vs. Jones fight justified, or just more UFC hype?

Have an interesting take?

“I mean, you talk about legacy, Jon Jones is probably the best fighter that ever lived… However, nobody beats time, and Tom Aspinall is on a hell of a run so it’s to see how they’re going to match,” Georges St-Pierre told Bloody Elbow“It’s hard to say. As a fan, I want to see this fight. I would really like to see this fight, but I think Tom is very hungry, and it’s up to Jon to see if he still wants to do this.”

Well, Dana White seems like he wants to do it, and Georges St-Pierre wants this fight to happen even if the UFC has to pay a hefty amount to Jon Jones because ‘GSP’ thinks ‘Bones’ “deserves it.” Anyways, let us know what you think in the comments down below.
