During the post-fight interview, ‘Suga’ called out featherweight champion Ilia Topuria for a fight. The bantamweight division is full of electrifying fighters, and Merab Dvalishvili is definitely one of them. ‘The Machine’ last featured at UFC 298 when he took on three-time champion, Henry Cejudo. Dvalishvili not only put up a dominant performance against him but also booked his place for the next title shot. The number one contender was present to witness the fight at UFC 299 and revealed he was a bit frustrated after ‘Suga’ called out ‘El Matador’. However, he also revealed the backstage talks with UFC head honcho Dana White.

While speaking on the TMZ Sports show he said, “I don’t talk like this with UFC yet. But I did see Dana for a little bit, I just say hi and I believe he told me you are next. That’s what he told me . Just too many crowd or something and I believe he told me this you are next. So and yeah and then I said after my fight I’m next and we all know I am next and I’m very confident you know I’m gonna fight Sean and it’s just so stupid from Sean that he’s not mentioning my name. Especially this fight is going to happen and he can make a big this fight.”

While ‘The Machine’ is desperately waiting for his title shot it seems he might have to wait a bit longer. Sean O’Malley recently took to his X account(formerly Twitter) to announce his next opponent and also the year. While many felt that ‘Suga’ would fight next in 2024, the 29-year-old shocked everyone with his announcement.

Sean O’Malley reveals he will be fighting Merab Dvalishvili in 2025

Current bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley surprised the fans after his latest tweet. The 29-year-old put on a dominant show at UFC 299 against Marlon Vera but suffered a slight injury in his right foot. During the post-fight press conference, O’Malley walked in with his right foot in a walking boot. Although there has been no news of any fracture it seems the champion wants to be 100 percent fit before his next fight. However, he did take the time to announce his next opponent. ‘Suga’ recently took to his X account(formerly Twitter) to announce the news.

He Tweeted, “I WANT MERAB. 2025 will be legendary ✌🏽”. While the fans expected the much-awaited clash to happen in 2024, it now seems they have to wait a bit longer. ‘The Machine’ has been waiting patiently for his title opportunity and is now booked for a title fight next. Both ‘Suga’ and Dvalishvili have contrasting fighting styles and it will be a treat for the fans. It will now be interesting to see when the fight actually takes place.
