If a 10-7 round was ever recorded in the UFC, then it had to have looked exactly like the one between Renato Moicano and Benoit Saint-Denis in the main event of UFC Paris. With no time to lose, Moicano knocked down the Frenchman. The second round unfolded completely on his feet, which only worsened the multiple cuts Saint Denis had suffered at the beginning of the fight.
Before the third round referee Mark Goddard invited the doctor at the foot of the octagon to check Saint Denis’ cuts, which caused the fight to end by TKO. However, despite this dominant showing, Moicano did not move an inch when the rankings were uploaded on Tuesday. To the surprise of many, the rankings remained the same for Saint-Denis as well. This led many to call out the UFC’s ranking system. And another name that just got added to the list of critics was Dana White‘s friend, Kevin Iole.
In a recent video uploaded by the journalist, fans can witness Iole and Dana White talking about the grand spectacle that was UFC Paris. But with the glory also came the criticism. As Iole confronted White about the UFC’s new rankings. Being blunt as ever, he said, “I don’t agree with that based on what happened in the fight,” while going on to compare the UFC rankings to the ranking system in other sports, such as American football.

However, White truly was defensive about his promotion and its ranking. So much so that he began ranting about Iole’s comparison. He said, “What do you think about Max Holloway being number 10 in the lightweight division when Justin Gaethje is number three? This ain’t college football, where every year a team is f*ckin different with different players. Max Holloway is one of the greatest fighters in the history of the f*ckin sport. College football shouldn’t even be mentioned when you talk about this sport.”

Moicano, eleventh in the rankings, reached four wins in a row and improved his record to 7-2 since his debut in the division in 2020. Saint-Denis accumulates a second consecutive loss and is left with a record of 5-3 under the UFC spotlight. ‘BSD’ had just been knocked out in two rounds by Dustin Poirier. So it was no wonder that fans began to turn on the UFC’s ranking system. But now, Dana White has revealed that he has a new solution to the problem. So what is it? Well, it’s none other than the use of AI.
