Undefeated Irish welterweight Prospect, Ian Garry is now 14-0 on his record after beating Geoff Neal at UFC 298. Given his impressive performance against a veteran in “Hands of Steel”, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him take a big name in the division in his next fight.

In the post-fight press conference of UFC 298, the undefeated Irishman did just that as he called out the former UFC interim champion, Colby Covington as his next fight. This isn’t really a surprise, given how the two have been throwing shade at each other over the past few months. But would Covington accept the fight against Garry?

During the post-fight press conference, the undefeated UFC welterweight, Ian Machado Garry, brought up Covington’s name quite a number of times during the interview, hurling shade and calling him out.

When asked by an interviewer whether Covington would accept the fight, he said, “I’m a fighter who says yes. I don’t say no, I don’t be picky. I say ‘Yes. Where? When?’ That’s it. The truth is I call out who I want. Colby is the biggest name in the division without a title. Going out and beating him does so much. Look, I’m not talking sh*t about him. There’s a lot of respect on his name from the MMA community.”

Though accepting that Covington is a well-respected figure in the sport of MMA, Garry seems to believe that the former interim champion is on his way out of the promotion, even claiming that UFC CEO, Dana White will make sure the fight takes place. He said, “I don’t believe he’s in a position to be picking and choosing his fights now. If he wants to fight, he’s gonna do what he’s told. And I’m sure Hunter and Dana will tell him that.”

The Irishman’s grudge towards the former UFC interim champion stems from something Covington said a few months back. “The Future” looks to hurt “Chaos” if they ever get inside the octagon.

Later on in the press conference for UFC 298, Garry went on to warn Covington, saying that he would hurt him for what he said about his family and wife. Garry seems focused on making Covington his next target after his win against Neal.

He said, “Let him write his script. Let him do the panto let him do the act, let him do everything. I’m gonna get to punch him in the face. He can talk about me, my wife, my family, my kids, he can talk about whatever he wants… I will punch them out of him and I hope I hit him so hard. He’s never able to speak again.”
