Dana White was ruthless after UFC Fight Night 250 ended. For the boss and the UFC, things didn’t go as planned. Fans and critics expressed concerns about the judging, with some people even accusing the judges of biases and partiality in the scoring.
The controversy started with the fight between Hamdy Abdelwahab and Jamal Pogues. It was a neck-to-neck fight, with Pogues giving pressure and competition, but fans were unhappy with the result. The fans even recalled UFC 308 where Rinat Fakhretdinov secured a controversial win over Carlos Leal.
On top of that Jairzinho Rozenstruik also lost his lackluster fight against Sergei Pavlovich. So what did the UFC boss do after all this controversy? He fired two of them. According to UFC Roster Watch on X “Fighter removed: Jamal Pogues; Fighter removed: Jairzinho Rozenstruik.”

The boss was not happy about the sluggish fight and decided to cut Rozenstruik out. Yes, the fight was not up to the mark but Rozenstruik aka ‘Bigi Boy’ had a 9-6 run across 15 fights with the UFC. He had won back-to-back bouts before UFC Saudi Arabia so he was clearly not going through any slump. However, the promotion cut him off and Rozenstruik is now a free agent. Pogues’ release from the promotion was not very shocking because he has lost 2 of his last 3 bouts.

This was a shocking end to a card that was a milestone event. Why? Because it was a pretty big event for the women fighters in the UFC roster because the CEO made history with the first women’s fight in Saudi Arabia.
Dana White makes an impact with UFC women’s fights in Saudi
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has started a new chapter in its legacy. Not in the too-distant past women were not allowed to do a lot of basic things like drive, not appear in public without a hijab, or even not leave their homes without a male accompanying them. But things transformed exponentially after Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman was announced as the de facto ruler in 2017.

Now women can not only do whatever they want to but are also free to participate in various kind of sports. Dana White made the huge opening of a new chapter in Saudi by making the promotion’s first women’s bout in the Kingdom. The #12 women’s flyweight Jasmine Jasudavicius fought against women’s bantamweight title contender Mayra Bueno Silva and the former won via decision.
So even though he did fire two fighters, he made history with the women in the promotion. But do you think it was right of the boss to fire them like that? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
