Dana White is never beating the ‘glazing Jon Jones’ accusations. The UFC CEO, of course, thinks ‘Bones’ is the greatest ever mixed martial artist. Although at times, White finds it difficult to maintain that relationship with ‘Bones’, despite never getting tired of singing paeans to the heavyweight champ. Jones and the head honcho have had their fair share of disagreements over the years, with the champ expressing frustration with fighter pay four years ago, and the promotion being frustrated with Jones’s behavior outside the Octagon, which has brought disrepute to the promotion.
But with White’s recent avidity to place Jones at the helm of the fighting world, some felt the duo had turned a corner. Well, apparently not. “Jon Jones and I do not have the greatest relationship in the world, we haven’t for years,” White told Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe on their ‘First Take’ ESPN show.
“And everybody thinks that I’m [glazing him],” White protested. “You know what, it’s just a fact, it is what it is. If you know anything about fighting, not only is Jon Jones the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, Jon Jones would have run through everybody who’s ever fought in any combat sport. He is literally the baddest dude who ever walked the face of the Earth at this point in time.”

Of course, many people doubt that Jones could even beat Tom Aspinall, who is next in line for a title shot and desperate to fight Jones. The Englishman has opened as the slight betting favorite (but a favorite nonetheless) for a potential Jones clash. The promotion and the champ are in talks to make that fight happen at the moment, but some fear ‘Bones’ may price himself out of the battle. After all, Jon Jones looks reluctant to fight Aspinall and has shut down the prospects of it every chance he gets. But that apparently, is only Jones being a marketing genius.

Dana White believes Jon Jones’ reluctance to fight Aspinall is a sham
According to Dana White, Jon Jones has never refused to fight Aspinall and is in talks with the promotion for the generational clash. “I’m going to tell you the craziest thing about Jon Jones. I’m the guy that hears all the stuff… He has never said behind the scenes ‘I won’t fight Tom Aspinall’. It’s the exact opposite. Yet to the public, he makes it seem like he doesn’t want to fight Tom Aspinall,” White said in the same interview.

In fact, the UFC CEO implied that Jones’ public reservation regarding the clash is just him playing 4-D chess and posturing for public consumption. After all, what better way to create hype for an Aspinall clash than to create suspense over whether it would happen or not? Not to mention all the attention, social media clicks, and headlines this whole affair has created for the fight.
After all, the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Chael Sonnen deliberately put on an evil persona to make sure fight fans tune into their fights, even in hopes of seeing them beaten and humiliated. What do you think about Dana White’s revelation about his relationship with Jon Jones?
