Dana White claims talking about the family is “nasty”
Dana White addressed the things Colby Covington said to Leon Edwards. He stated that he does not tell what fighters need to talk about during press conferences. In the realm of combat sports, it happens often, but the UFC CEO doesn’t like fighters dragging their opponents’ families into it. He said, “We are in the fight game. Lots of mean things are said and one of the things that I really don’t like is family.”
Furthermore, White believes that talking about someone’s spouse, parents or kids is a low blow and is one of the most unpleasant things to witness during press conferences and interviews. “[I don’t like] when you start going after family. Whether it’s the kids, the wives, the parents, or whatever, it’s just such a nasty thing to do,” said the CEO. The 54-year-old also revealed what he told Leon Edwards’s team after the fight against Colby Covington.
The welterweight champion could have been fined
Dana White mentioned that fighters are very mean when in the build-up of a fight. However, everything comes full circle when they get inside the cage for the eventual showdown. White said, “But again, this is one of those sports where you say horrible things, and then 24 hours later, it goes down.”
