Fairly recently, the veteran fighter took to his Instagram handle to announce that he would be returning to the combat sports world specifically for two more fights. Donald Cerrone has 48 fights under the Zuffa banner, which includes his time in the WEC prior to the UFC and he wants to say a final goodbye to his career after fighting two more times. Yet, despite his willingness to come back to the Octagon, Dana White has some diverging thoughts about this.

While in conversation at the Dana White Contender series, the UFC CEO was asked about Donald Cerrone’s comeback announcement. The UFC CEO was a bit puzzled and emphasized that Cerrone should have planned his retirement better considering that he is one of the most seasoned fighters who was with the promotion for more than a decade, “Cerrone shouldn’t think about fighting again. Cerrone should start thinking about what’s next,” said White.

He further added, “He should have been thinking about it two years ago, but apparently he didn’t, and he needs to. We’re here for him; we love Cerrone, so we’ll help in any way we can. I don’t want to see him get punched in the face anymore.” Cerrone and Dana White are good friends and because he has left the fighting world, it would be difficult for White to witness his friend get battered again just like in his last six fights.

In addition to this, the UFC CEO has another question for Donald Cerrone before he even tries to get back to the fighting world again.

“What’s left to prove?” asks Dana White on Donald Cerrone’s confession

“I want to go back and get two more fights, When I retired, I told you I was getting my hair done and get on steroids. The No. 50 (Zuffa) has been sitting on my mind for a while. So, I’ve been working with Transcend for the last two years, taking TRT and a bunch of peptides. Now we got a protocol for all you people that, ‘Oh, what if you get on it, you can’t ever come off,” said Cerrone in an Instagram video. The fighter has been with the promotion since 2007 and has nearly achieved everything except the undisputed belt.

Have an interesting take?

Donald Cerrone has fought 33 fights under the promotion, which is the most fights under UFC. In addition to that he has the most wins (23 victories) under the promotion. He also has scored 18 post-fight bonuses, which is a UFC record. His record stands astute and looking at this the UFC CEO Dana White has a question for him, “I hate it. Love him [Cerrone], hate that. He retired, it’s just for what? What’s left to prove?”

White further added, “it’s just there’s nothing left to prove for him…If it’s about money, he can do something else. Cause he ain’t gonna fight for the rest of his life, he’s always gonna need to make money. So let’s figure that out now instead of three years from now.”

Donald Cerrone’s comeback may or may not happen so soon as even the UFC CEO Dana White has diverging opinion about this but if he comes back, who do you think will be his first opponent? State your thoughts in the comments below.
