When will Conor McGregor return to action again? This is one of the biggest questions that is bothering most of the fans out there. Now, there seems to have been another disappointing update, for fans and McGregor both.
The Dubliner was all set to take on Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in his comeback fight. However, an injury to his toe forced the 36-year-old to pull out of the fight at the last moment. UFC CEO Dana White also clarified that he won’t comment on the former double champion’s return until he had some concrete news. It seems that the 55-year-old might just have some news about McGregor’s return.

When Conor McGregor decided to walk out from his clash, White was seemingly upset with the whole episode. He also claimed that he won’t be returning to action any time soon. But it seems there has been some update about McGregor’s condition. Championship Rounds took to their X account to share a clip of Dana White wherein he made it clear that ‘Mystic Mac’ will be returning in 2025. He said, “Well let me tell you this. I was the one this year saying I don’t think he’s gonna fight this year and all the talk and everything else. Even the fight being set up and the press conference. Conor McGregor will fight next year early 2025.”
McGregor has been out of action for more than three years now, which has forced many to believe that he might have lost his love for fighting. Some also believe he is not the same fighter who once held titles in two divisions. However, the UFC CEO had no hesitation in clearing all such doubts and said, “He has had so much time off. As far as the hunger, he’s a very wealthy guy. We will find out when he comes back.” ‘
Mystic Mac’ is currently recovered and is working extremely hard to get back to full fitness. He often posts videos of his training sessions on his social media account to keep his fans updated.

This decision is surprising because White seems to be flat-out declining McGregor’s plea for a 2024 return. The last time White publicly pitched the idea, McGregor was vehemently opposed to it. There’s also the fact that the December PPV does not even have a rumored main event yet, and the last updates said the expected headliner was McGregor vs. Chandler.
Now, recent chatter has revealed that the UFC might try to put Islam Makhachev vs Arman Tsarukyan on the card. However, Makhachev is currently out with an injury and his availability on the date is doubtful. So it would be best to take White’s statement with a pinch of salt for the time being.

During this entire period, while McGregor has drawn all the attention, Michael Chandler has quietly put in the work. ‘Iron’ has been waiting for a long time to settle his scores with the Dubliner, but the fight just doesn’t seem to happen. However, he has found himself a new opponent in Jorge Masvidal who showed his interest in fighting him. But what does the 38-year-old feel about the call-out? Let us find out.
Michael Chandler shares his honest opinion on Jorge Masvidal calling him out
A few days back, former UFC BMF champion Jorge Masvidal sent shock waves across the MMA world when he showed his willingness to fight Michael Chandler. Masvidal is currently eyeing a return to the UFC and is ready to make the headlines as well. While he dismissed the idea of Conor McGregor returning anytime soon, ‘Gamrebred’ took a special liking towards his opponent. In an interview with ‘MMAFighting,’ he showed his willingness to fight ‘Iron’ and said, “That wouldn’t be a bad fight against Michael Chandler to get my feet wet again in MMA,”

Chandler then took to his Instagram story to respond to the call out. The 38-year-old has been waiting for eighteen months to get into a fight against the Dubliner. While he does like the idea of him taking on Masvidal, Chandler feels this is not what the UFC wants at the moment. He said, “The problem is, I don’t think the UFC loves it right now. But at some point, Jorge, you will absolutely get your block knocked off. I respect what you’ve done in the sport, but you will absolutely get your block knocked off at some point. Until then, trust me, boys and girls, we’ve got something cooking.” It seems that Chandler is willing to wait some more time to finally get the fight he has always been waiting for.
With Dana White coming out and announcing his return, fans can only pray that McGregor returns to full fitness this time. Are you excited to see the former two-division champion return to action again? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
