Nothing beats Power Slap, especially on social media. The slap-fighting league owned by Dana White is perhaps the most controversial and looked down upon of all the combat sports in the world. It is based upon the simple premise that two contestants standing in front of each other slap their opponent as hard as they can with the latter required to take the slap flush, without any flinching, let alone defending against it.

This, of course, leads to one’s brain being rattled inside the skull, which in turn is the main cause of CTE, which leads to serious physical and cognitive damage over the long run. On the other hand, it’s pretty exciting to watch, and it has been doing remarkably well on social media, leaving behind MMA YouTube in the dust.

The UFC analyst and impressionist extraordinaire, ‘The MMA Guru’ shared an Instagram post that showed the social media performance and estimated revenue of the biggest MMA channels, including Power Slap. Surprisingly, Power Slap was at the top of the list, beating the likes of ESPN MMA and the biggest MMA YouTube personalities in terms of views and how much money it generated off them.

With 2.5 million monthly views on YouTube, 3.8 million on Instagram, and 4.6 million on TikTok, Power Slap had by far the most monthly channel views on YouTube, by a factor of hundreds of thousands on the video-sharing platform (even as the views for ESPN MMA on TikTok and Instagram are roughly equal to Power Slap’s)

However, this did not translate to much revenue as the slap-fighting league, according to the estimates, did only between $10k- $31k over the month (still more than any other major MMA channel) despite its virality. In second place was the MMA Guru himself, who managed to gross between $9.1k- $25k, still more than the likes of ESPN MMA, Chael Sonnen, and Michael Bisping‘s YouTube channels. And it is not just these channels it has beaten in social media, but also most of the major sports in the USA.

Dana White reveals Power Slap fighters coming to UFC PI to train

Power Slap has, according to Dana White, become one of the top four sports in the USA in one particular aspect. According to the Power Slap founder, the slap-fighting league’s social media numbers have overtaken those of the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB. “You know the original guys; the Fertitta brothers were my partners in the UFC. We sold in 2016 to Endeavor, so my go-to guys I said ‘Hey, I got another idea. you guys want to do this?’ And they’re like ‘yeah, we’re in.’ So we all gotta pony up a million bucks each and get this thing started. That was 13 months ago; it’s a $750 million business [today],” Dana White claimed.

And the UFC CEO has big plans to take the slap-fighting league to the next level. To do this, he plans to take a page out of the UFC playbook and provide the Power Slap contestants with a state of the art training institute. He has asked the slap-fighters to come and train at the UFC’s Performance Institute (PI) in Las Vegas.

“Yeah so these guys are actually starting to figure out how to train properly. We have a performance institute here in Vegas for the UFC. We actually bring these guys through. They work on neck strength, the power and velocity of a slap and things like this. Just like the UFC it will become more technical and the training it will evolve over the next couple of years,” he said in a recent podcast episode with Sebastian Maniscalco.
