Jim Miller went up against Gabriel Benítez at UFC Vegas 84 and came up the better fighter of the two. He submitted his opponent in the third round of the matchup. And in doing so, not only did he achieve a brilliant victory, but also smashed a record for himself.

The fighter has had a stunning career. He started his days in the UFC back in 2008 collecting win after win and still going in 2024. Now, after winning his Fight Night bout, he’s looking forward to moving on to UFC 300 and creating history with another fighter. Here’s a list.

Miller set the record for most wins in UFC history by achieving his 26th victory inside the Octagon. He’s been in the game for a long time now having fought over 40 bouts. Clearly, this lovely submission was nothing new to him. Once the fight was over, Miller wanted to look ahead of himself.

The fighter was once promised by Dana White that he’d be a part of UFC 300 since he had been in UFC 100 and UFC 200. It only makes sense for such an icon to keep gracing every 100th pay-per-view event to come during his career. Now, he has some people he’d like to go to war against.

“You know, UFC 300 is coming up… Couple names that have come up that would be intriguing… Guy sitting behind the desk, Paul Felder.” he said in the post-fight interview. Felder was indeed present there, commentating from the desk. He quickly retorted back saying “I got some races coming up in April, though. Should I do the race and then 300? No, that would be silly.”

It would appear that Felder is not yet sure about coming back. Miller would also go on to call out yet another fighter–Brock Lesnar. Lesnar has been out of the Octagon for some time now. And the same can be said about Felder who is yet another retired fighter. Will Miller’s dreams ever come to fruition? It doesn’t look that way since Felder seems both, retired and uninterested in fighting him soon.

Round-by-round before the win at UFC Vegas 84

The first round was quite a back-and-forth between the two. Heavy hits were landing on both sides with kicks exchanged and several one-two combos for Miller. The second round saw a brilliant takedown by Miller that was quickly thwarted by Benitez but not for long.

By the third round, Miller had his opponent unsteady with the consistent leg kicks. Perhaps to secure the takedown he was about to go at. He goes in for a takedown and the two struggle on the mat before Miller manages to take Benitez’ back. In no time, he secures a face crank forcing Benitez to submit. Now, with Felder just about rejecting his fight request, will his UFC 300 bout find another opponent?
